Containership, Freighter Collide Off Of Japan

The Panamanian-flagged container vessel Ever Dainty was involved in a collision on Nov. 1 with the Panamanian-flagged freighter Apollo Delapan, south of Oshima, Japan, Reuters reported. The 55,300 dwt Ever Dainty had 22,000 liters of heavy grade-c oil in No.5 tank, which has filled with seawater. The 8,143 dwt Apollo Delapan sustained serious damage to its bow but no flooding and was able to proceed to the Funabashi south quay, at Chiba, Japan, later the same day. Ever Dainty dropped anchor at Tateyama, Japan. Apolo Delapan sailed from Shimizu on Oct. 31 bound for Funabashi and Ever Dainty sailed from Tokyo on Oct. 31 bound for Osaka.
