The Association of Norwegian Maritime Exporters (NME) announced the appointment of a new managing director, Ole Henæs, who began in the position 3 August. Henæs takes over the leadership of the member-based organisation from Halvard Olafsen, who has led NME for over a decade and who now moves into a new role as Chief Project Officer. Henæs was selected as NME’s new managing director by the NME board after a rigorous selection process reviewed a number of highly qualified applicants. Henæs’ prior experience on the board of NME and with NME member companies Rapp Marine and Kongsberg Maritime, and his strength as a manager and organiser with a technical background, were cited as reasons for his selection.

Showcasing the latest technology in shipbuilding, ship repair, shipping, marine engineering & equipment, this international exhibition will feature some 300 participating and represented companies from some 14 countries & regions such as Singapore, the Netherlands, Denmark, Hongkong, Germany, Finland, Norway, India, Japan, England, Korea, Italy, US and China. The expo will be held from 26-28 November 2008 at the Guangzhou Jinhan Exhibition Centre in . As ’s shipbuilding industry in the Pearl River Delta continues to advance, maritime exhibitions become more imperative to industry players in establishing their market presence. In the first 3 quarters of 2007, a rise of more than 40% in the shipbuilding output has been recorded amounting to some 12 million DWT.
