CGF Raises $0.25 mi for Fallen Heroes

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that at the 34th Annual Salute to the U.S. Coast Guard, which was held in New York City last night, October 9th, more than $1 million was raised. Of that total, $250,000 will be allocated to the Foundation’s Fallen Heroes Fund, which provides support for the families of Coast Guard members lost in the line of duty. The Fallen Heroes Fund provides emergency assistance to the families, friends and shipmates of those Coast Guard heroes who make the ultimate sacrifice in service of our country.

Bay Delta Equips New Tug with Markey Winches

San Francisco headquartered Bay Delta Maritime commissioned a sixth Delta Class Tug with Nichols Brothers Boat Builders out of Whidbey Island Washington. The Jensen designed M/V Delta Audrey, is a 100’x40’ z-drive tractor tug that is set to be delivered in June. The Tractor Tug is ABS load line certified and consists of a complete propulsion system that includes two Caterpillar 3516C diesel engines coupled to the Rolls Royce propulsion package. This system will produce 93 tons of bollard pull with a combined horsepower of 6800, giving the tug exceptional pulling power and maneuverability.

Continuing its tradition of supporting academic excellence, Crowley Maritime Corp. recently presented Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarships to two midshipmen from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY. Mark Miller, director of corporate communications for Crowley, presented scholarships to Jeffrey Jaskot and Audrey Meyers. Midshipman Jaskot, of Orlando, Fla., is a senior majoring in Logistics and Intermodal Transportation and plans to attain a U.S. Coast Guard Unlimited 3rd Mates License. He also is in the process of achieving a Tankerman PIC Rating as well as Crude Oil Wash and Inert Gas Endorsements. Upon graduation, Jaskot plans to use his license and go to sea. He interned at Crowley in the summer of 2003.

IOS Announce Charter Contracts

P/R International Offshore Services ANS (IOS), which is a 50/50 joint venture between Farstad Shipping ASA and P&O Australia, has contracted two anchor handling support vessels at the Simek AS yard in Norway. Delivery of the vessels will take place in March and July 2003. The vessels are a new type of UT 712 of 12,240 bhp with DP and a double drum 370 tonne winch for employment in international markets. IOS has also entered into a two year time charter with Phillips in Australia for the platform supply vessel (PSV) Far Scotsman commencing April 2002. from Farstad Shipping ASA for a minimum of two years. The Lady Audrey has been fixed for two wells + 2x1 well options to Shell Namibia from early January 2002. Lady Audrey is presently working for Shell in the Philippines.
