ABB Acquires Tekomar

With its most recent acquisition, ABB has further expanded its ABB Ability portfolio of digital products and services with the addition of a new propulsion performance monitoring solution. ABB Turbo Systems Ltd. has signed an agreement to acquire Swiss headquartered Tekomar Group Ltd. ABB said it will further develop Tekomar’s digital solution for engine analytics and advisory systems enabling better performance for marine customers. The transaction is expected to be closed during Q4 2017.

ABB Turbocharging Previews Marine Auxiliary Product

ABB Turbocharging, at the CIMAC Congress 2016 presented its first dedicated turbocharger, for marine auxiliary engine applications, in a development cooperation with IHI Corporation. Designed for ease of operation and service, it supports a condition-based maintenance concept. The Marine Auxiliary Power (MXP) turbocharger is a key part of the company's strategy to focus on increased value for engine builders and operators in the large engine industry through segment- and application-specific turbocharging offerings.

Wärtsilä Debuts More Powerful Wärtsilä 32

Wärtsilä introduced a more powerful version for marine applications of its Wärtsilä 32 engine. The engine was first introduced in the 1980s, and to date more than 4000 units have been sold to the marine industry alone. The Wärtsilä 32 engine is a choice for both the marine and land-based power plants markets. In the marine industry the engine is used for both main engine and auxiliary engine applications.
