Biden Encourages Continued Collective Bargaining in US Ports Dispute

U.S. President Joe Biden has urged both sides in the West Coast ports labor dispute to continue collective bargaining, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Wednesday, adding acting Labor Secretary Julie Su was actively engaging with the parties.The largest terminal at Southern California's Port of Long Beach closed for the day shift Monday as dock workers rallied for better pay. Monday's temporary closure followed similar disruptions on Friday in Oakland, California.

Classification society ABS said it has signed a joint development project (JDP) with South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. Maersk Rig Contracted to Aker BP

Maersk Drilling and Aker BP have agreed to a new two-year contract to reactivate and quickly deploy jack-up rig Maersk Reacher in the Norwegian part of the North Sea.Maersk Reacher will be deployed as an accommodation rig, with the option of repurposing the rig for plugging & abandonment for the final phase of the contract. Aker Maritime aims to provide cost effective solutions for deepwater drilling and production riser systems through its Riser Solutions Group. The group, which is headed by Jeff Mesamer, provides operators with beneficial solutions for production riser systems for various floating production systems, including semi-submersibles, Spars, TLPs and FPSOs - from initial development through delivery and installation. The group provides companies with many variations of free standing production riser systems, top tension risers and steel catenary risers. Project management is combined with the engineering services of Aker Engineering's Riser and Well Systems division, with Dr. Paul Stanton as vice president.
