W African Firm Builds LNG Import Capacity

Equatorial Guinea is set to construct the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage and regasification plant in West Africa, advancing efforts to monetize gas resources through the creation of a domestic gas-to-power infrastructure.Located at the Port of Akonikien, the landmark regasification plant will enable the storage, transportation and distribution of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the country’s mainland; 12 bullet tanks will carry 14,000 cubic meters of storage capacity, supported by a truck loading station and 12-kilometers of ten-inch gas and diesel pipelines; The project will be led by local construction and engineering firm Elite Construcciones…

Schlumberger to Buy Stake in Fortuna LNG

Oilfield services giant Schlumberger is entering Ophir Energy’s Fortune floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) project off Equatorial Guinea after agreeing a preliminary deal with the UK player for a stake in the development. The non-binding agreement has Schlumberger receiving a 40-percent interest in the project, with a permanent deal expected in Q2 2016. The services provider plans to reimburse 50 percent of Ophir’s past costs through a development carried interest. It is expected to cover the company’s capital expenditure on the project until the first sales of LNG. The Fortuna project is located on block R in offshore Equatorial Guinea, about 140 km off the coast of Bioko Island on the Distal Niger Delta.

Fast Crew Supplier for P&O Repasa

P&O Repasa, a new company formed last year by the acquisition of the majority of the shares in Spanish towage firm Repasa by P&O Maritime, has taken delivery of one Damen Fast Crew Supplier 5009. The vessel will be operated from Malabo on Bioko Island, Equatorial Guinea. The Red Eagle will ferry personnel and equipment, and supply drinking water and fuel, to offshore rigs and platforms. Fugro to Survey off Equatorial Guinea

Fugro has been awarded a contract by Ophir Equatorial Guinea (Block R) Limited for the provision of survey services for the development of large scale assets and infrastructure offshore Equatorial Guinea. Under the contract Fugro will deploy three of its specialist vessels - Fugro Searcher, Fugro Scout and Fugro Frontier – to perform autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) surveys as well as geotechnical, environmental and metocean surveys. (MOL) say they have received a newbuilding charter contract for two methanol carriers from Atlantic Methanol Production Company LLC (AMPCO) based on an offer tendered in 2013. Heerema Fabrication Group contracted by Marathon E.G. Production to deliver the new Alba B3 greenfield gas compression platform. The Alba Field is a gas and condensate field located approximately 20 miles north of Bioko Island. MEGPL operates the Alba Field on behalf of itself and working interest partners Samedan of North Africa, Inc. a wholly-owned subsidiary of Noble Energy, Inc.and Compania Nacional de Petroleos de Guinea Ecuatorial.
