Well Abandoment in the Spotlight at ICoTA Event

The challenges facing well abandonment in a mature province will be the focus of the latest lunch and learn session hosted by leading oil and gas industry body ICoTA European Chapter in Aberdeen on Tuesday, September 18. Representatives from TAM International will start the event with a presentation on how inflatable technology has been successfully used for well abandonment and deployed on slick line, coiled tubing and drill pipe, followed by a presentation on innovation in abandonment services by Baker Hughes.

Icota Europe Appoints New Chairman and Co-Chairman

The Intervention & Coiled Tubing Association (ICOTA) European Chapter has appointed a new chairman and co-chairman. Former co-chair Callum Munro will take the helm as chairman of the organization, while fellow committee member Michael Taggart has been appointed as the new co-chairman. Munro, a senior well engineer at BP, is responsible for identifying and implementing new well intervention technologies within the company, also providing specific well examination services for platform and subsea well interventions across BP’s UKCS portfolio. A member of ICOTA since 2002, he joined the committee in 2006, becoming actively involved in the re-development of the ICOTA Europe website.
