A Coast Guard helicopter crew from Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala., hoisted seven boaters who were stranded on Chandeleur Island, Miss., today.
The helicopter crew diverted from a training mission after hearing the report that the 29-ft. fishing vessel, Island Gypsy, from Biloxi, Miss., with seven people onboard, was taking on water.
The crew of the Island Gypsy grounded the vessel on Chandeleur Island while the helicopter crew was en route.
All boaters were safely transported to Keesler Air Force Base, Miss.
