Totem Plus has been awarded a contract to supply a full package of Automation and Navigation Systems for a new series of Modern Bulk Carriers. The 55800 DWT ships will be built by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) in Korea, with the first ship scheduled to be delivered by mid 2012. The Automation package is based on the Integrated Monitoring Alarm and Control System (IMACS), supplied to over 100 ships by Totem Plus. The system is designed for full redundancy of CPU (Hot stand-by PLC), redundant Bus and redundant work-stations.

Totem Plus has announced a partnership with ECDIS LTD. This will enable training to be conducted on its TOTEM ECDIS in ECDIS LTD’s new e-Navigation Center in Southampton, UK. The training will be based on ECDIS LTD’s flagship MCA accredited IMO 1.27 Model ECDIS course. ECDIS Ltd provides navigation training, purchasing, charting and consultation in Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) and the military equivalent (WECDIS, ECDIS-N). They specialize in providing Flag State approved IMO model ECDIS courses to be taught on any IMO accredited ECDIS. Static training is delivered in their Southampton Training Center and portable training can be conducted in a location of the customer’s choosing, even onboard if facilities can support it.
