Optimarin Demonstrates Total System Reliability

Environmentally friendly and compliant BWT technology company  Optimarin gave a demonstration of its long-term system reliability onboard Neptune Subsea’s IMR vessel Larissa in the same week that a report from ABS revealed problems with almost half of installed ballast water treatment (BWT) systems. Optimarin has installed more than 300 of its systems worldwide, with over 500 units ordered. The 334 m3 capacity system onboard the SX130 Ulstein design Larissa was one of the first, installed during its construction by Zhejiang Shipbuilding in 2010. OceanSaver BWTS Earns USCG Approval

OceanSaver said it has received the final type approval certificate from U.S. Coast Guard as the first ballast water treatment system (BWTS) supplier utilizing electrochlorination. This means that a USCG type approved system is now available for medium and large vessels like LR1s, VLCCs and large gas carriers. Volvo Penta Launches New Tier 4 Open Power Units

Volvo Penta has introduced a new line of EPA Tier 4 Final/EU Stage IV PowerPac industrial open power units for OEM manufacturers. Volvo Penta is initially deploying the PowerPac systems in the Americas, and will roll out the products for industrial customers worldwide through the company’s global distribution channels. The PowerPac systems come equipped with a complete set of preinstalled components including all Tier 4F/Stage IV after-treatment components, engine cooling system (radiator and CAC), air and fuel filters and mounting brackets.

Hepburn to Supply RAS System for Davie Shipbuilding

Hepburn Engineering, a global leader in naval 'Underway Replenishment' systems has announced that it has signed an agreement with Davie Shipbuilding, Canada's largest shipbuilder for the supply of a Replenishment-At-Sea (RAS) system for its Resolve-Class Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR) ship. RAS equipment enables naval vessels to be refueled and resupplied ship-to-ship while underway on the open ocean and under severe weather conditions. This allows naval vessels and task groups to deploy long distances from home-port and to stay "on station" for prolonged periods. OceanSaver BWT Earns USCG and ISO Approval

OceanSaver has achieved a certification double, with the news that its Mark II Ballast Water Treatment (BWT) system has achieved U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) approval, while the company itself has achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification. Based in Drammen, Norway, OceanSaver provides efficient and reliable BWT systems for medium and large vessels, such as VLCCs, LNG Carriers and a variety of tankers and bulk carriers, amongst others. The USCG’s  Alternate Management System (AMS) approval means that vessels fitted with OceanSaver systems - combining effective and reliable filtration with high-performance electrodialytic disinfectant treatment – are free to discharge ballast water in U.S. ports. Newbuilds constructed after December 2013 must have USCG compliant systems to perform this task.
