World's First 8th Generation Drillship Starts Maiden Contract

Offshore drilling company Transocean said Thursday that its Deepwater Atlas, the world's first 8th generation drillship, had started its first contract.The offshore drilling rig, delivered by Singapore's Sembcorp Marine in June, is under a contract with Beacon Offshore Energy in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.The Deepwater Atlas is the first of two ultra-deepwater drillships based on the Sembcorp Marine's Jurong Espadon 3T design. The second, also owned by Transocean, is the Deepwater Titan.The Deepwater Atlas has a hook-load lifting capacity of three million pounds.

Seaway 7 Wins Transport and Installation Cables Contract Offshore US

Seaway 7 announced that it won a "sizeable" [between $50-150m] contract for the transport and installation of inner-array grid cables on an offshore wind farm project in the U.S.The scope includes the transport and installation of around 160 km of 66 kV subsea power cables and respective cable protection systems.The contract award is subject to client reaching Financial Close by end of 2022. This is the second U.S. project awarded to Seaway 7, after the Coastal Virginia demonstrator project, which was completed in 2020.

Norwegian marine seismic survey company PGS has won a Wide Azimuth 3D acquisition contract offshore Cyprus. PGS, which owns a fleet of seismic survey vessels, said that mobilization was scheduled to start in mid-June. Vattenfall Awards Van Oord a 4-Year Offshore Wind Contract

Offshore wind developer Vattenfall has awarded the Dutch-based offshore installation contractor Van Oord a 4-year operations & maintenance (O&M) contract.Working through its MPI Offshore organization, Van Oord will provide jack-up and associated lifting services for main component exchanges across Vattenfall’s portfolio of offshore wind farms. Vattenfall, based in Sweden, has 10 offshore wind farms in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK. During the contract period, Vattenfall's offshore portfolio will be extended to 622 turbines with a combined capacity of 2.6 GW.

Shell, Peterson Extend Lowestoft Base Contract

Offshore energy industry logistics provider Peterson has agreed on a contract extension with Shell for quayside, warehousing, and transport services from Peterson’s Lowestoft base in the UK.Peterson has supported Shell from the east coast of England since 2015 and the new contract will see that support continue until at least January 2022, the company said.Apart from announcing the extension with Shell, Peterson said that improvements to the Lowestoft site are also due to be completed soon…

Northern Drilling Cancels Drillship Resale Contract

Offshore drilling contractor Northern Drilling announced it has cancelled a resale contract for the 7th generation ultra deepwater drillship West Cobalt, which had been scheduled for delivery from South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) in 2021.Northern Drilling, which notified DSME of the cancellation on Monday, said the deal was cancelled for "various reasons including repudiatory breach of contract by DSME".Northern Drilling has made advance payments totaling approximately $49.2 million under the contract, and will claim a refund of the installments paid, plus interests and damages, it said.West Cobalt…

Singaporebased Keppel Shipyard has awarded Norwegian liquid handling and pump specialist PG Flow Solutions a contract to supply high flow seawater pumps to the Gimi FLNG that is being converted at the yard.PG Flow Solutions will deliver four large seawater pumps, each with a capacity of 5,500 cubic metres of water per hour. Offshore drilling contractor Rowan Companies plc announced Monday that its drillship Rowan Reliance has been awarded a contract in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico by Fieldwood Energy LLC.The contract is for a firm term of one year plus three 90-day options, and is expected to commence the first quarter of 2019. Maersk Drilling signed on semi-submersible rig Mærsk Deliverer with Eni for exploration well offshore Timor-Leste.Maersk Drilling and Eni JDPA 11-106 B.V. (Eni) as operator of the JPDA 11-106 Joint Venture have signed a one-well contract for the semi-submersible rig Mærsk Deliverer for exploration drilling in the Timor Sea.The estimated duration of the firm contract is two months, expected to commence in March 2019. The contract contains an option for an additional well with an expected duration of an additional two months.The Mærsk Deliverer is currently warm-stacked in Labuan, Malaysia, after completing a well programme in March 2018.

Subsea 7 said Friday it has been awarded a contract from Nexen as part of the Buzzard Phase 2 Project, located approximately 55 kilometers off the northeast coast of Scotland. Subsea 7 said the contract is “sizeable”, between $50 million and $150 million.Subsea 7’s contract scope includes project management, engineering, procurement, construction and installation of a 5-kilometer pipeline bundle along with associated well and platform tie-ins, and provision of a heavy lift vessel for transport and installation of a new topside module.Project management and detailed engineering has commenced at Subsea 7’s office in Aberdeen. The pipeline bundle will be fabricated at Subsea 7’s Wester site near Wick, with technical support from Subsea 7’s specialist pipeline group in Glasgow.

Transocean's contract backlog $11.3 Bln on February 9

Transocean Ltd. (NYSE: RIG) today issued a quarterly Fleet Status Report that provides the current status of and contract information for the company's fleet of offshore drilling rigs. As of February 9, 2017, the company's contract backlog was $11.3 billion. On December 31, 2016, the newbuild ultra-deepwater drillship Deepwater Conqueror commenced operations on its 5-year contract in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico at a dayrate of $589,000. The customer has elected to exercise its contractual option to terminate the contract for the ultra-deepwater drillship Deepwater Asgard effective January 2017. The company will be compensated for the early termination through a lump-sum payment of approximately $79 million, which is based on the operating dayrate less the operating cost per day.

CWind Awarded TP Gate Contract

Offshore wind industry services provider CWind said it has been awarded a contract by DONG Energy, to install new and retrofit existing gates on the transition pieces (TPs) at the Gode Wind and Borkum Riffgrund offshore wind farms, located in the North Sea off the coast of Northern Germany. CWind, which is part of the Global Marine Group and delivers the company’s power capabilities, will use its crew transfer vessels, assets and engineering expertise to help complete the project.

Sea Trucks Awarded Contract Offshore Ghana

Sea Trucks Group said it has secured a contract award from Tullow Ghana Limited for the provision of a Construction Support Vessel (CSV) providing Accommodation and Heavy Lift services to the turret moored FPSO Kwame Nkrumahe, located in the Jubilee Unit Area, 60 km offshore Ghana. The scope of work covers accommodation for up to 120 company pax. The scope also includes the heavy lift of two 50 Ton fairlead chain stopper foundation block structures, a 34 Ton mooring pull-in winch and other smaller lifts.

Subsea 7 Awarded Contract Offshore Nigeria

Subsea 7 S.A. announced it was awarded a contract by Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPN) for the Production Uplift Pipeline Projects (PUPP) in shallow water, offshore Nigeria. The contract scope includes engineering, construction, transportation, installation and pre-commissioning of 20 kilometres of 24" Corrosion Resistant Alloy (CRA) pipeline between the Idoho Platform and the terminal onshore and of 2 kilometres of 24" CRA pipeline between the Edop and Idoho Platforms, as well as associated topside modifications and tie-ins at both ends. Engineering and procurement will start immediately at NigerStar 7's offices in Lagos, while offshore operations will take place from Q3 2018 to Q1 2019, using the Subsea 7 vessel, Seven Antares.
