Crowley Delivers Hydroelectric Transformers

Crowley transported and delivered 11 oversized electrical transformers in Costa Rica during the week of Feb. 16 to be installed at a hydroelectric dam in the country. The units, which were shipped with Crowley as part of an ongoing project move, will help convert water energy into electricity for cities and towns. The transformers, each 11 ft tall and weighing more than 10 long tons, were manufactured by a Mississippi-based company and loaded in Port Everglades aboard Crowley's Ro/Ro ship Ambassador for the trip to Limon, Costa Rica. Crowley utilized 48 ft flatbed trailers for the move.
