U.S. based shipping and logistics company Crowley announced it has acquired Tamarind Consolidated, a logistics services company serving the U.S. to the British Virgin Islands.The acquisition will transition Tamarind’s operations and services, including warehousing and non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) services, to Crowley. According to Crowley, the expansion complements its existing maritime and logistics solutions and will expand solutions for customers in Virgin Gorda and surrounding BVI locations.

20 Vessels, 6,500 Loads of Cargo will be Offloaded by Week’s End. The Full-Scale Logistics Operation includes 375 Trucks Used to Expedite Deliveries. With employees working around the clock and its vessels calling the Port of San Juan almost daily, Crowley Maritime Corp. said today it will have offloaded by the end of this week more than 6,500 loads of FEMA and commercial cargo from 20 vessels since Hurricane Maria struck the island in late September. And the company projects another 9 vessels, carrying between 2,500 and 3,000 loads, will arrive in Puerto Rico next week. “I am very grateful for the extraordinary work of our teams in San Juan, Jacksonville and in other parts of the country,” said Tom Crowley, chairman and CEO.

Crowley Liner Services Earns AQUA Lane Certification

Crowley Liner Services said it has been certified by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as part of the new Marine Port Terminal Operator (MPTO) designation, known as the AQUA Lane program, which essentially gives the shipper a “fast lane” for cargo operations by allowing incoming vessels to be pre-cleared by CBP. The validation comes after an a on-site inspections and vetting of Crowley’s Port Everglades terminal found the shipper to be fully compliant with program requirements and to have also implemented additional best practices, including enhanced due diligence security standards.

Pivotal LNG, Carib Energy Reach Multi-Year Supply Deal

Pivotal LNG announced a multi-year agreement to sell liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Carib Energy LLC, a Crowley Maritime Corp. subsidiary. Crowley will transport and deliver LNG from the U.S. mainland to its newest client, Molinos de Puerto Rico, a subsidiary of Ardent Mills LLC, the island’s leading supplier of flour as well as wheat, corn and rice-based food ingredients. “Crowley’s partnership with Pivotal LNG continues to help our customers meet their energy needs with cleaner, efficient fuel sources,” said Crowley Vice President Greg Buffington.

Crowley Gives Scholarships to Two Student Employees

Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarships to two University of North Florida (UNF) students who are also currently part-time employees with the company. Crowley Maritime Corporation has announced  additional organizational realignments within its shipping and logistics team effective Jan. 1, including the appointment of Nelly Yunta to vice president of sales, marketing and customer care, and the promotion of Pete Noyer to vice president of national accounts reporting to Yunta. Crowley Doubles Warehouse Space in Jacksonville

Crowley has moved to a new 70,000 sq ft warehouse at Jaxport's Dames Point location, minutes from the company's headquarters. With this move, the company has doubled its north Florida warehouse space. This new location at 3700 Port Jacksonville Parkway has 20 dock doors, 30-ft clear-height ceilings, and a 160-ft truck court that can be expanded to 200 ft. The U.S. Customs bonded warehouse is very close to the city's new TraPac container terminal and will allow Crowley to provide warehousing and distribution services to those shippers involved in the Asia trade. As the Panama Canal is expanded, volumes of freight coming to Jacksonville from Asia could potentially increase volumes to the warehouse and allow the logistics group to increase its breadth of service offerings.
