Damen, Maris Join Forces to Tackle Seaweed

Dutch shipbuilding giant and Maris Projects, a player in marine and oceanographic data management services,  have joined forces to tackle the issue of invasive Sargassum seaweed in the Caribbean region – including the Dutch Caribbean Islands.The partners are working towards the developments of a holistic solution. The work of the two companies is expected to greatly increase knowledge of bio-processing, leading to the design of efficient and scalable technologies with the capability to deliver both environmental and socio-economic benefits.A significant – and to date, inexplicable – rise in the quantity of Sargassum in Caribbean waters and along its shores, has been recorded in recent years. The weed is causing considerable problems in the region.

New Weight Rules at APM Terminals

With three days of terminal operations completed under the new Safety of Life at Sea Convention (SOLAS) Verified Gross Mass (VGM) Regulations, export cargo loading has proceeded without incident at the facilities within the APM Terminals Global Terminal Network. PDMS Targets Maritime Industry with £1m Deal

Maritime software engineering specialists PDMS Ltd. have announced an agreement for its U.K. subsidiary, Professional Data Management Services (U.K.) Ltd., to acquire certain parts of the business and assets of Maxima Information Group Limited, a subsidiary company within the Castleton Technology group of companies. In a deal worth close to £1 million, the acquisition relates to the ERP, payroll software and ferry ticketing business. Expro Enters $10 Million Full-Service Contract in Brazil

International oilfield services company Expro has been awarded a contract to provide equipment and services in support of a client’s offshore project in Latin America. Located in the Santos Basin, in Brazil, the BS-4 block encompasses two post-salt wells and one pre salt well. Expro has been contracted to provide heavy oil well testing to post-salt wells and data management services through partner company Baker Hughes, in a contract valued at more than $10 million (£6.5 million).

Bibby Offshore Expands Latest Division Further

Bibby Remote Intervention Limited (BRIL) has announced the recent appointments of Lloyd Duncan as Senior Inspection Repair and Maintenance (IRM) Consultant and Andy Inglis to the role of Inspection Manager. Offshore Positioning Contract for VERIPOS

VERIPOS, wins a three-year contract from Neptune Marine Services (NMS) of Perth, Western Australia for its GPS augmentation service. The contract, which represents a continuation of a long-standing working relationship between the two companies, covers the provision of VERIPOS’s  Standard GPS augmentation service in addition to its Ultra and Apex2 precise point positioning facilities, the latter using both GPS and Glonass constellations. All three services will in turn be supported by VERIPOS’s Verify QC processing software for real-time and post-processing assessments of data. Neptune, one of Australia’s leading subsea engineering organisations, has additional bases in South East Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
