BAE's GBP90mln Contract for Barrow Central Yard Complex

BAE Systems has awarded a £90m contract to Morgan Sindall plc for the development of one of the UK’s largest industrial facilities at the Company’s submarine building site in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, reports North West Evening Mail. The new building will sit at the heart of a £300m transformation project underway to prepare for the construction of a successor to the Vanguard class submarine. The new Central Yard Complex will offer a cutting-edge facility to fit out each section of the new submarines before they are transported to the Company’s Devonshire Dock Hall where the build process will be completed. Allan Day, Facilities Programme Director, BAE Systems Submarines said: “The Central Yard Complex is the largest single building in our site redevelopment programme.
