LNG Hopper Dredge Vox Apolonia Delivered to Van Oord

Van Oord announced it has accepted delivery of its new trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD), Vox Apolonia, from Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd shipyard in Singapore.The newbuild is the second in a series of three new dual-fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueled TSHDs being built for the Dutch dredging and marine services contractor.The 10,500-cubic-meter-capacity Vox Apolonia and its sister vessels Vox Ariane and Vox Alexia, fall into the mid-class section of Van Oord’s TSHD fleet.

Keppel O&M Delivers Dual-fuel Dredger to Van Oord

Kooiman Building Hegemann Dredging's New Hopper Dredge

The Netherlands-based shipbuilder Kooiman Marine Group is building a new trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) for German Detlef Hegemann Aktiengesellschaft. The 1,500-cubic-meter dredger is designed to execute multiple types of dredging activities at specific locations. Hegemann V is scheduled for delivery in July 2022.The Hegemann V was developed by Kooiman Engineering, part of Kooiman Marine Group, in close collaboration with Hegemann Dredging. With a suction pipe on the starboard side and an inboard dredge pump, the vessel is able to fill the 1,500-cubic-meter hold with silt or sand.

Royal IHC Sells TSHD Design Package to Cashman Dredging

Royal IHC has been awarded the contract for the design and engineering of a 6,500yd3 trailing suction hopper dredge (TSHD) for U.S. based Cashman Dredging & Marine Contracting Co., LLC.The tailor-made shallow draft TSHD design combines advanced technology with a high level of maneuverability, the designer said. IHC Launches New Dredge for Suez Canal Authority

Dutch shipbuilder Royal IHC on Friday launched a new cutter suction dredger (CSD) Mohab Mameesh for the Suez Canal Authority (SCA).The 29,190kW heavy-duty rock CSD built at at IHC’s shipyard in Krimpen a/d IJssel has been designed in cooperation with SCA, and will be used to maintain and improve the Suez Canal, which connects the Mediterranean and Red seas. The vessel, characterized by its long slender shape and high spud towers, will have an overall length of 147.4 meters and provide a maximum dredging depth of 35 meters.

Van Oord Orders Royal IHC Dredge System

Royal IHC, the provider of design and construction for the specialist maritime sector, has been awarded another contract by Van Oord to design and supply the dredge installation for its new 10,500m3 trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD).The suction pipe installation with underwater pump, two dredge pumps and three jet water pumps will be installed on the new TSHD and built in Singapore.Earlier this year, IHC was commissioned to deliver similar systems for two other Van Oord TSHDs.“We were delighted to receive this repeat order from Van Oord, a long-standing and highly valued customer of ours,” says IHC Group Executive Director Diederik van Rijn.

Van Oord Enacts Hopper Dredger Option

Van Oord has decided to use the option of ordering a third trailing suction hopper dredger at Keppel FELS Limited. The vessel is similar to the two vessels that Van Oord ordered in May 2018. Each one has a hopper capacity of approximately 10,500 cubic meters and measures 138 meters in length and 28 meters across the beam.This investment is part of a broader fleet renewal program in the Dredging business unit. The new hoppers will replace existing vessels and fit in with Van Oord’s aim of making its fleet state-of-the-art and more energy efficient.

Damen Shipyards Group has delivered a Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) 500 and a Multi Cat 1506 to Maritime Constructions of Port Adelaide, Australia. The two vessels have been put to use on a port extension project in Onslow, Western Australia.Maritime Constructions has been awarded the contract to carry out capital dredging works for the Onslow Marine Support Base Channel Dredging project, which will see the modification and expansion of the Beadon Creek Harbor Approach Channel, Swing Basin and Berth Pocket.

Damen Supplies Submersible Dredge Pump in Brazil

Brazilian civil engineering contractor has taken delivery of a new submersible dredge pump for creating an access channel into the sea for a new power plant currently under construction.The Damen DOP150 dredge pump is now in operation, creating the access channel for a critical pipeline for the plant’s cooling system and when completed it will extend 600 meters out into the sea. Over the course of the project the DOP150 is expected to remove around 30,000 cubic meters of material.The Damen DOP150 is being used to extract sand in the surf zone, varying in density from loose to medium fine.

New TSHD Launched for Van Oord

Van Oord’s first of two new midsize trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHD), Vox Amalia, has been launched at the LaNaval shipyard in Bilbao, Spain. Its twin, Vox Alexia, is slated to be completed early next year. “These two vessels are designed for capital dredging, coastal works and dredging of trenches for pipe and cable routes for offshore installations such as wind farms,” explained Gerard Alkema, Project Manager Plant Design & Construction at Van Oord. The dredgers have a hopper volume of approximately 18,000 cubic meters and are equipped with two suction pipes with submerged e-driven dredge pumps, two shore discharge dredge pumps and six bottom doors. Each vessel is 158 meters by 36 meters and can accommodate 38 persons.

The Egyptian Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has placed an order for two custom-built 29,190kW heavy-duty rock cutter suction dredgers (CSDs). The vessels will have an overall length of 147.4 meters and provide a maximum dredging depth of 35 meters. In addition, they will offer accommodation facilities for 73 people.
