Innovative Marine Communications for Offshore Safety

Utility, functionality, and safety all come together in David Clark’s wireless headset communication systems. For the soon-to-come North American Offshore Wind boom, there are lessons to be learned here, from across the great pond. When Mantsbrite became the sole U.K. distributor of the David Clark Marine Wireless Headset Communications Systems in 2012, one of the first users was Tidal Transit, a fast growing North Norfolk company providing a new generation of personnel transfer vessels for use by offshore wind farm developers. That’s because Tidal Transit selected Mantsbrite their first two state-of-the-art, purpose designed and built vessels with the best navigational aids available to enable the vessels to function safely and efficiently in the unfriendly waters of the North Sea.

Mantsbrite Wins New Tidal Transit Wind Farm Vessel Contract

All the navigation and communication equipment for the first two vessels in the Tidal Transit fleet - ‘Ginny Louise' and ‘Eden Rose' - was supplied and installed by Mantsbrite, and the specification for ‘Tia Elizabeth' remains unchanged with the exception of the addition of a seabed monitoring system and the use of new ultra sonic wind sensors. As for the previous Tidal Transit contracts, Mantsbrite will assemble and test all the equipment in its workshops at Maldon in Essex.

Offshore Wind Farm Vessel Motion Monitoring Trials

Strainstall Marine undertake vessel motion monitoring trial on an offshore wind farm transfer vessel off the UK East Coast. The company's new Vessel Motion Monitoring System™ (VMMS™) provides accurate motion monitoring for wind turbine transfer vessels to improve safety during transfer operations, as well as impact load measurement combined with a data logging capability. An accurate motion monitoring system can increase the operational window considerably during critical personnel and equipment transfer manoeuvres by allowing the user to monitor all motion parameters…

Tidal Transit Grows as Wind Energy Soars

Leo Hambro, Commercial Director of Tidal Transit, has announced that the company has just placed an order for the manufacture of the third, in its potential fleet of ten, innovative wind farm crew transfer vessels. To be named Tia Elizabeth, this new vessel will be built to exactly the same high specification as its two sister craft, Ginny Louise and Eden Rose , apart from the fitment of a rear crane which can be used for the deployment of a rescue craft, such as an inflatable rib.

Tidal Transit Gets North Sea Offshore Wind Farm Charter

Scira Offshore Energy, the company developing the UK's Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm  with its 88 turbines situated between 9-17 miles off the coast of North Norfolk, is to charter Eden Rose, one of Tidal Transit’s innovative wind farm personnel and equipment transfer boats, to service the site development. The Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm is the third major offshore wind energy project to be supported by Tidal Transit vessels. Immediately after her arrival in the UK from Spanish ship builder, Mercurio Plastics, Eden Rose went into operation for RES Offshore in Grimsby, servicing meteorological masts 60 miles out into the North Sea…
