DNB Bank Appoints Senior Asia Region Execs

DNB Bank, the leading international shipping and energy bank, has appointed Vidar Andersen its new Head of Asia, based in Singapore with immediate effect. In a related move, Mats Wermelin has been appointed the bank’s new Head of China based in Shanghai, a post which was previously held by Mr Andersen. Group Executive Vice President (Large Corporations and International), Harald Serck-Hanssen, welcomed Mr Andersen and Mr Wermelin into their new positions. HMMarine Secures Debt Facility

Hyundai Merchant Marine Secures US$500 million debt facility from banks led by DNB. South Korean shipping group Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) has secured a USD500 million debt facility from a syndicate of financial institutions led by DNB Bank. A signing ceremony to close the facility was held at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The facility will be used by HMM to fund the construction of five mega container vessels being built at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering which are scheduled to be delivered throughout 2014.

Omar Sekkat has joined DnB NOR’s energy division at the bank’s Asian headquarters in Singapore. He comes to the role after transferring from DnB NOR in London. Mr Sekkat’s appointment as a Senior Vice President of the energy division at DnB NOR Asia takes immediate effect and his role is to contribute to the bank’s ongoing expansion in Asia Pacific within energy finance. look forward to working with my team to develop further the bank’s client base in Asia. Andersen to Head DnB NOR, Shanghai Branch

DnB NOR has appointed Vidar Andersen as the new head of its Shanghai branch succeeding Espen Lund who has returned to the bank’s headquarters in Oslo after an eight year stint as China country head. Vidar Andersen said today: "I am very pleased to have been given such an opportunity and I approach the task with both humility and pride. Espen Lund is taking up a position in the management team of the International Corporates and Institutions Division with a particular responsibility for customers doing business in Asia.
