Steel Cut for New Staten Island Ferry

The City of New York Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) Staten Island Ferry Division and Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. (ESG) cut steel to officially begin the construction of the first of three new 320’ Staten Island Ollis Class Ferries. The steel cutting ceremony held August 29, 2017 took place in Eastern’s steel processing and pre-fabrication building at its Allanton facility in Panama City, Fla. Attending the ceremony from Staten Island Ferry Division was John Collins, Director of Ferry Engineering and Bill Tomalonis, Vessel Construction Manager SIF Division.

ESG to Launch First Ship Designed with FORAN

Eastern Shipbuilding Group (ESG), a shipbuilder based in Panama City, Fla., is due to launch the HARVEY SUB-SEA in November 6, marking the launch of the shipyard’s first vessel designed with the FORAN CAD/CAM System developed by the engineering and technology group SENER. The newly built multipurpose support vessel (MPSV) is the first of a series of two with a length of 103.7 meters, beam of 22.3 meters and depth of 8.92 meters. It is regulated by ABS/USCG/SOLAS DP2 DE Z-Drive MPSV and will operate in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico for HARVEY Gulf International Marine.

Eastern Shipbuilding Launches FORAN Designed Vessel

Based in Panama City, Florida, Eastern Shipbuilding Group (ESG) launches the HARVEY SUB-SEA in November the 6th, the first vessel successfully detailed designed in the shipyard with the FORAN CAD/CAM System, developed by the engineering and technology group SENER. The Multi-Purpose Support Vessel (MPSV), the first of a series of two, has a length of 103.7 m, beam of 22.3 m and depth of 8.92 m. It is regulated by ABS/USCG/SOLAS DP2 DE Z-Drive MPSV and will operate in the US Gulf of Mexico for HARVEY Gulf International Marine. Rigdon Marine: PSV Orleans Now Working

Rigdon Marine has the Orleans, first of 10 64 x 16.5 x 5.8-m diesel-electric ABS Classed DP-2 platform supply vessels from Bender Shipyards, is now working in the Gulf of Mexico. A second vessel, the Bourbon, will follow at the end of June with a third, the Royal, in August. These will be followed by seven more of these innovative vessels. The announcement of the ambitious build program, by Rigdon in 2002, received wide spread industry attention. Fernando Malabet of the boats' designer Guido Perla & Associates explains that the diesel electric propulsion system will provide superior performance in the dynamic positioning mode and maximize the design efficiency eliminating the need for long shafts and reduction gears.
