Fincantieri Marine Group, the U.S. subsidiary of Italian based shipbuilding enterprise Fincantieri, announced that its President and Chief Executive Officer, Francesco Valente, will step down from the position to assume another leadership role within the Fincantieri group.As a result, the Board has selected Dario Deste to assume the role of President and Chief Executive Officer. Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding to Build 740ft Self-Unloading Great Lakes Barge

Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding has signed an agreement with VanEnkevort Tug & Barge, Inc. to construct a new self-unloading barge for transportation of bulk products throughout the Great Lakes region. Bay Shipbuilding Delivers ATB to Moran

Fincantieri Marine Group’s Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding (FBS) has delivered the Articulated Tug Barge unit (ATB) Barbara Carol Ann Moran and the 110,000-barrel barge Louisiana to Moran Towing Corporation. The 5,300-HP, 121-foot vessel is certified ABS Class +A-1 Towing Service, +AMS, and is equipped with state-of-the-art navigation and communications technology. The ATB unit was delivered on the exact day called for by the contract and will work the East Coast of the United States and the Gulf of Mexico.

Kirby Awards ATB Contracts to Bay Shipbuilding

Bay Shipbuilding Company (BSC) of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, a subsidiary of Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG), has been awarded a contract to build two 155,000-barrel capacity barges and two 6,000 HP tugs for Kirby Corporation. Bay Shipbuilding Awarded USCG Repair Contracts

Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG) subsidiary, Bay Shipbuilding Company (BSC) of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, has been awarded a USCG contract for drydock repairs to the United States Coast Guard Cutter Hollyhock (WLB-21) and a second USCG repair and sustainment contract for the icebreaker Mackinaw (WLBB-30). Hollyhock is a Juniper Class Seagoing Buoy Tender measuring 225-feet long. The Mackinaw is a 240-foot heavy icebreaker for operations on the Great Lakes. Both ships were built by FMG subsidiary, Marinette Marine Corporation (MMC), and launched in January 2003 and November 2005 respectively.

Multi-mission, Dual Design, Single Focus Littoral Combat Ships

Last month marked the launch of two new Littoral Combat Ships: Milwaukee (LCS 5) launched by Marinette Marine into the icy Menominee River; and Jackson (LCS 6) launched by Austal into the far warmer waters found off of southern Alabama. While the two LCS variants and shipyard climates are a world apart, this innovate U.S. Navy ship production program has the common goal of fortifying U.S. defense interests while spurring investment in the creation of two state-of-the-art ship production facilities. Mid-December in Marinette, Wis., can be described with one word: cold.
