Oil prices slumped again on Wednesday, with Brent falling to the lowest since 1999, as the market struggled with a massive crude glut amid a collapse in demand for everything from gasoline to jet fuel caused by the coronavirus outbreak.Brent crude, which fell 24% in the previous session, touched $15.98 a barrel, its lowest since June 1999. Traders are shipping jet fuel from Europe to the United States, where Tropical Storm Harvey has sparked concern over possible shortages of the aviation fuel. French oil major Total has booked the Maersk Misumi and Butterfly to load 37,000 tonnes each of jet fuel in Europe in the coming two weeks for transatlantic transportation, shipping reports showed. Total also has a provisional booking of the Seaways Alcmar to load 37,000 tonnes of jet fuel in Malta on Sept. 4, with delivery options to the U.S. Gulf or U.S. Atlantic Coast. Royal Dutch Shell and other traders were also seeking tankers along the route, traders and ship brokers said. "Everyone seems to be very busy trying to find cargoes and ships to move across the pond," one European jet fuel broker said.

OW Bunker, a physical distributor and reseller of marine fuels, today announced that it has acquired marine fuel broker Wilhelmsen Marine Fuels, a subsidiary of Norwegian Wilhelmsen Maritime Services, for an undisclosed sum. Wilhelmsen Marine Fuels’ main activity is broking services from offices in Oslo, London and Singapore, servicing customers on a global basis, but with a key presence in Singapore and the ARA-region (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp). GAC Bunker Fuels, part of global shipping, logistics and marine services provider GAC, has announced the appointment of Maurice Lara as its Bunker Manager for East Coast USA. He is based in Norwalk, Connecticut and accountable to Nicholas Browne, Global Director of GAC Bunker Fuels, and Bob Bandos, Managing Director of GAC USA. Lara's background is in marine fuel trading, domestic and international logistics, vessel chartering and negotiating charter party agreements and end-to-end commodity transportation.

Navies from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Spain and the United States are participating in UNITAS Atlantic 48-2007 from May 2-13 off the coast of Argentina.
