DMC Inks Deal to Equip Chilean Navy Ships

Wärtsilä has awarded Damen Marine Components (DMC) a contract to provide steering equipment to two Landing Platform Docks (LPD) of the Chilean Navy being built at ASMAR. SHI Wins Order for 2 LNG Carriers

South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has received an order for the construction of two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.The shipbuilder said in a stock exchange annoucement that it had secured a deal worth KRW 450bn ($381m) with a Bermuda-registered client.The newbuilds are planned to be delivered by the end of June 2022. With the addition of the latest order, SHI has seen its orders for LNG carriers reach 10 units. SHI revealed that its orderbook for 2019 now stands at eleven vessels, including one floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, worth USD 3 billion. According to Pulse news, SHI contracts  accomplishes 38 percent of its annual goal of $7.8 billion.

MT-FAST Fuel-saving Device Installed on 500 Vessels

New Operational Structure for Van Oossanen

Netherlands-based Van Oossanen Naval Architects is continuing to trade under the name Van Oossanen. Van Oossanen will act as the Van Oossanen Group, incorporating Fluid Dynamics, Naval Architecture and Hull Vane BV, an independent company established by Van Oossanen.   According to Van Oossanen , the renewed business structure follows its growing activities for Computational Fluid Dynamics services in the commercial shipping market. As a separate service from naval architecture, Van Oossanen Fluid Dynamics will operate independently within Van Oossanen. Hull Vane BV, which produces a fuel saving device of the same name, is already operating as an independent sister company of Van Oossanen in order to make the Hull Vane available to the worldwide maritime market.

Maersk Londrina

Maersk Londrina is a 8700 TEU containership built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., LTD (DSME) for A.P. Moller - Maersk A/S. According the shipbuilder, one of the biggest challenges during construction was to increase the height of the accommodation by 9m in order to achieve the carrying capacity of 8,700 TEU from 7,450 TEU for the previous vessels. In spite of the difficulties of this kind of big modification during construction, the conversion was successfully completed and satisfactory to the shipowner.
