Organisations Across Europe Ask EU to Invest More in Transport

With the slogan “More EU budget for transport, the best investment plan for Europe” a coalition of thirty European transport organisations are launching today their campaign for a strong connecting Europe Facility for the next financial period 2021-2028. “We are very pleased  to see that 30 transport organisations, covering all modes and nodes, service providers, users and cargo owners are supporting this plea for a strong financial support for the completion of the TEN-T network," says ESPO’s Secretary General Isabelle Ryckbost. "750 billion euro is needed to complete the TEN-T core network. We all know that transport projects with a high societal return do not always generate the necessary return on investment.

Major US Port Chooses Fieldpoint Service Software

Fieldpoint Service Applications say that one of the largest U.S. Port Authorities had selected Alert Software as their Project Management, Contract and Grant Management solution. As stated in the [not named] Port Authority's 2012 annual report, they had $38.6M worth of completed capital projects and $35.3M in construction-in-progress projects. Project accountability was a key driver for this initiative. With several millions of Federal, State and Tax dollars being awarded, tight cost controls were required from the bid process to project delivery and on-going maintenance support. Alert Software say they will unify the project management processes and aggregate job cost details throughout the project lifecycle.

AAPA Judge the FY 2014 Budget a Support 'Potpouri'

The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) consider the FY 2014 Administration Budget contains mixed blessings for the industry. With the release today of President Obama’s fiscal 2014 budget, the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA)—representing seaports in the United States and throughout the Americas—stated there are both positive and concerning aspects of the budget pertaining to ports and the efficient and secure movement of freight. In regard to modernizing and maintaining America’s port navigation infrastructure, AAPA commends the Administration’s budget request for being $42 million higher than last year’s $848 million request for the coastal navigation portion of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Civil Works Program.
