Fincantieri Delivers Carnival Horizon

Carnival Cruise Line officially took delivery of the 26th ship in its fleet, the new 133,500-ton Carnival Horizon, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. Carnival Horizon was built at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Marghera as a sister ship to Carnival Vista delivered in Monfalcone in April 2016. Carnival Horizonhas a gross tonnage of 133,500 tons, is 323 meters long and accommodates more than 6,400 people onboard, including staff. The 3,954-passenger ship will reposition to Barcelona, Spain, where it will depart April 2 on an inaugural 13-day voyage – the first of four sailings from the European port. New Generation Takes to the Water – A recent study found that younger generations—including Millennials and Generation X — will embrace cruise travel more than ever before, rating it as better than land-based vacations, all-inclusive resorts, tours, vacation house rentals or camping.

Carnival Expands Capacity in New Orleans

Carnival Cruise Line will expand capacity on its four- and five-day short cruise program from New Orleans by 34 percent when Carnival Triumph replaces Carnival Elation on this schedule next spring, providing an exciting Fun Ship 2.0-equipped ship on this highly popular itinerary. Carnival Triumph will shift from Galveston to New Orleans to launch year-round four- and five-day cruises to Mexico beginning April 4, 2016. On this route, four-day “long weekend” cruises depart Thursdays and call at Cozumel while five-day cruises depart Mondays and Saturdays and visit Cozumel and Progreso.

Carnival Sunshine Embarks on Inaugural Voyage

The totally transformed 3,006-passenger Carnival Sunshine – the largest Carnival Cruise Lines ship ever to be homeported in New Orleans -- will sail this afternoon on its inaugural voyage from the Big Easy, embarking on a six-day cruise to Cozumel and Grand Cayman. Earlier this year, Carnival Sunshine underwent a $155 million, 75-day makeover that added a variety of innovations that are part of Carnival’s groundbreaking Fun Ship 2.0 enhancement initiative, along with several features unique to this vessel and 182 new staterooms.
