Coast Guard Investigates Collision

Coast Guard investigators continue to look into the circumstances of a collision that investigators believe occurred around just after midnight on Oct. After a large debris field was reported, the Coast Guard opened a marine casualty investigation. Since the initial report, investigators have been on the water and around the port complex gathering evidence about the collision. The Coast Guard investigative effort suggests that the 26-ft. pleasure craft, registered to two individuals, one of whom being Henry Sanchez of Santa Ana, Calif., may have collided with the barge Islander, which was being towed by the tug Rebel II.
