Speedcast Selected by Gulf Marine Services

SpeedCast International Limited (SpeedCast), a global satellite telecommunications service provider, announced that it has been awarded a multi-year communications contract from Gulf Marine Services (GMS). The new dual-beam Ku-band satellite service will provide high-performance broadband connectivity for client office applications and voice services across nine GMS barges. GMS is one of the largest providers of self-propelled, self-elevating accommodation jack-up barges in the world. The vessels work in offshore oilfields, often in harsh weather conditions, and therefore require a reliable and high-quality connection between the vessels and the land-based operations.

Vroon Inks Communications Deal with Speedcast

Hermes Datacomms Scores a First in Myanmar

Hermes Datacommunications is now providing VSAT services in Yangon, Myanmar for one of the world’s leading Oilfield Service Groups. Hermes Datacomms has installed a stabilised antenna at the customer’s worksite, an offshore rig, and linked it back to Yatanarpon Teleport in Yangon, where the customer has telephone and internet access. The service makes use of Comtech “ACM” technology to provide robust and efficient service within the local tropical climate. The service is monitored 24/7 from Hermes global NOC, and local support and site attendance is provided by Hermes’ service partner in Yangon. Hermes Datacomms Wins Two-year African Support Contract

Hermes Datacommunications International Ltd., a company providing Wide Area Network communications to the upstream oil and gas industry, won a contract to support Tullow Oil plc. for their operations in Africa. The 24-month deal sees the company use its pan–African satellite platform to provide a connection from Tullow Oil’s data center in London to its Ethiopia office in Addis Ababa, extending core services to the continent and growing the current services in Kenya.
