Iberdrola's Wikinger OWF Passes DNV GL Test

The energy advisory and certification body DNV GL has awarded Iberdrola Renovables Offshore Deutschland GmbH the project certificate for its Wikinger offshore wind farm.The 350 megawatt offshore wind farm project located in the German Baltic sea is fully certified for safe and reliable power generation.The certification was carried out according to the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH – Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie) and covers all stages of the design assessment and implementation phase of the wind turbines, offshore substation including their support structures and the array power cables.The wind farm is located in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Baltic sea…

VBMS Bags Anglia ONE OWF cabling Deal

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) announces that its subsidiary VBMS has been awarded a cabling contract with a value of approximately EUR 100 million by ScottishPower Renewables, for the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm. The scope of work for VBMS consists of the supply, installation and burial, as well as termination and testing of 102 66kV inter-array cables. The project execution will commence in the first quarter of 2019 with completion scheduled for mid-2020. East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm will consist of up to 102 wind turbines, generating an overall capacity of up to 714 megawatts, and will be located approximately 43 kilometers off the Suffolk Coast in the southern North Sea.

Iberdrola Renovables, SENER Agreement

The Spanish company Iberdrola Renovables and SENER, Ingenieria y Sistemas, have signed an agreement for the active participation of SENER in the R&D concerning floating wind turbine supports moored over deep waters -more than 50m depth. The project, named as Proyecto Emerge, has been promoted from the off-shore wind projects department at Iberdrola Renovables. The scope of the researching project includes two different phases. From the first one, consisting on the execution of all the engineering works for the development of the floating wind turbine supports, SENER have assumed those regarding the marine engineering. This phase, in its turn, is divided into two steps, being the first one devoted to the viability aspects, both technical and commercial.
