First Tanker Built at Baku Shipyard Launched

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended a ceremony to launch the first tanker built at Baku Shipyard on the order of the Azerbaijan Caspian Sea Shipping Closed Joint-Stock Company (ACSC).The first oil tanker 'Lachin' was built by local specialists on the design of the Odessa Bureau of Marine Engineering. The 7,875-ton tanker is 141 meters long and 16.9 meters wide.The tanker can pass through the Volga-Don canal and has the maximum load capacity. Unlike others, it is capable of passing through this canal with a cargo of more than 4,000-5,000 tons."The Lachin tanker will not only provide transportation of oil and oil products in the Caspian, but also the transportation of liquid cargo to other basins through the Volga-Don and Volga-Baltic canals.

Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Expands Operations

The issue of expanding the activities of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ACSC) in foreign waters commissioned by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in order to eliminate dependence on a single market, while maintaining the leading positions of the Shipping Company in the Caspian Sea, is in the center of constant attention.Consistent measures are being taken in this direction. Expanding the activities of the Shipping Company in international waters is of great importance in terms of opening new jobs on a permanent basis, ensuring competitiveness in international cargo transportation, representing and promoting our country abroad. In this direction, the next step has been made in accordance with the strategic objectives.

BP Ink Azerbaijan Exploration Deal with SOCAR

SOCAR, the the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic, and BP signed a new production sharing agreement (PSA) for the joint exploration and development of Block D230 in the North Absheron basin in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea. The PSA was signed in London, in the presence of UK Prime Minister Theresa May and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, by Rovnag Abdullayev, President of SOCAR, and BP group chief executive Bob Dudley. Speaking at the signing event  Abdullayev said: “We have a long tradition of successful cooperation with BP. I believe that the synergies between modern upstream technology and unique historical experience, embodied in both companies, create a solid basis for our continued success.

Subsea Construction Vessel Launched in Azerbaijan

The vessel was named Khankendi by the President of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev, at a ceremony in Baku Shipyard and launched by the Shah Deniz consortium. Baku Shipyard LLC, a joint venture between Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC), has completed a Subsea Construction Vessel (SCV) for the Caspian region. The Khankendi will be deployed to the Shah Deniz field where it is expected to perform subsea installation and construction work over the next eleven years.

Keppel on Track to Deliver Rig for Caspian Drilling

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) through its subsidiary in Azerbaijan, Caspian Shipyard Company (CSC), is on track to deliver a semisubmersible drilling rig to Caspian Drilling Company Ltd, a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR). The rig was named Heydar Aliyev at a ceremony in Azerbaijan today by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. Built to Keppel FELS' proprietary DSSTM 38M design, the rig has been customized for the Caspian Sea's harsh environment condition. It is the first modern semisubmersible to be almost completely built in Azerbaijan.

Caspian Sea Shipyard Wins BP Exploration SCV Contract

Keppel supported Baku Shipyard has won a first major contract from BP Exploration (Shah Deniz) Ltd, the operator of the Shah Deniz gas field development, to design and build a Subsea Construction Vessel (SCV). The contract is worth US$378-million, say the shipyard. When completed, the SCV will be deployed for the Stage 2 development of the Shah Deniz field, which lies some 70 kilometres offshore in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea. The Shah Deniz Stage 2 project requires a subsea installation vessel to install the subsea structures over 11 years between 2017 and 2027. New Azerbaijani Shipbuilding and Repair Unit Opens

President Ilham Aliyev reportedly participated in the opening ceremony for the newly built ship repair and shipbuilding production unit of the State Caspian Sea Shipping, News AZ reports. Chief of the Azerbaijani State Caspian Sea Shipping, Aydin Bashirov, briefed the head of state on the conditions and production process at the new venture, detailing its technology and equipment. Damen Delivers 3 Dredges

Damen Shipyards delivers three Cutter Suction Dredgers to Azerbaijan. On 24 January 2012 Dutch shipbuilder Damen Shipyards delivered three Cutter Suction Dredgers of its CSD 500 series to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) in Azerbaijan. After delivery, President Ilham Aliyev and Minister of Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov examined the dredgers at the premises of the Yacht Club in Baku. Damen representatives briefed the President and his party on the functions and features of the CSD 500 and on the expanding production programme of the Damen Shipyards Group. MES ordered the three Damen dredgers to avoid repetition of the events that occurred as result of the Kura River bursting its banks in previous years.

Keppel Joint Venture, Azerbaijan Shipyard

President of Azerbaijan, HE Ilham Aliyev breaks ground for the new yard in the presence of Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr George Yeo. Fortifying its presence in the Caspian Region, Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited (Keppel O&M) joins hands with State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC) to develop and manage a new 52-ha shipbuilding and shiprepair facility in Baku, Azerbaijan. The new SOCAR-Keppel Shipyard will be developed over a period of two to three years with an investment of US$386 million.
