Thales to Equip Polish Navy's MIECZNIK Frigates with Combat Management System and Sensors

Thales said Thursday it would equip the Polish Navy MIECZNIK (Swordfish) frigates with the TACTICOS combat management system, sonars, infrared sensor, and radars, providing the warships with multiple functions for detection, identification, command and control, and decision-making. Partnership Creates spill Response 'One-Stop-Shop'

Norwegian suppliers Framo, Maritime Partner, Norbit Aptomar, and NorLense have come together to create the OSRV (Oil Spill Recovery Vessel) Group to offer a complete oil spill response solution. “Our aim is to be a one-stop-shop where we pool our efforts and act as a total systems supplier of safe, highly functional, and well-tested technology. The emergency response equipment has undergone thorough testing and quality assurance drawing on 40 years of oil spill response experience,” says Jørgen Brandt Theodorsen, Area Manager, Oil & Gas Pumping Systems, at Framo.

Coast Guard, Navy Partner for Helicopter Training

Northrop Grumman Signs Agreement With IZAR

Northrop Grumman Corporation's Integrated Systems sector has signed a technical assistance agreement with IZAR of Spain, Europe's second largest shipbuilder, to promote the U.S. Navy's Fire Scout vertical unmanned system for integration on the country's F-100 frigate. The Spanish Navy established a requirement for a precision weapon targeting system for new and existing frigates produced or upgraded by IZAR. As defined in this requirement, Fire Scout would provide target designation for precision-guided weapons during land attack missions. "We are extremely pleased to begin what we believe will be a successful collaboration with IZAR to support Spain and its venerable Navy," said Paul K.

Raytheon Wins Cost-Type Modification

Raytheon Systems Co., Integrated Defense Systems, Tewksbury, Mass., is being awarded a not to exceed $994,300,000 cost-type modification to previously awarded contract N00024-05-C-5346, for DDG 1000 and DDG 1001 mission system equipment (MSE) production and engineering support services. The MSE is being developed as part of the DDG 1000 ship systems detailed design and integration effort. The MSE includes the following: total ship's computing environment infrastructure; acoustic sensor suite element – including the bow array sensor suite; dual band radar; electro-optic/infrared sensor; ship control system; identification of friend or foe; common array power and cooling systems; electronic module enclosures; and Mark 57 vertical launcher system.

Northrop Grumman Taps Johnson as VP for BAMS

Northrop Grumman Corporation appointed Carl Johnson to vice president of Programs-Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) within the company's Integrated Systems sector. Northrop Grumman's BAMS solution incorporates maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities into the Global Hawk Block 20 air vehicle. The system can carry up to 3,000 pounds of payload comprising a variety of sensors optimized for searching, tracking and identifying targets, while collecting and transmitting data over open ocean and littoral areas. Northrop Grumman's offer includes an RQ-4N air vehicle derived from the RQ-4B Global Hawk, uniquely configured for the Navy and the maritime ISR domain. A contract is expected to be awarded later this year.
