CBED Expands Fleet with Two SOVs

Danish shipowner CBED has acquired two SOVs which are expected to be delivered end of Q1 2024. Following delivery from seller, Dutch-based shipping company Vroon, both Wind Evolution (formerly Vos Start) and Wind Creation (formerly Vos Stone) will be dry-docked for refurbishing, name change and painting according to the CBED fleet design. They will be ready to take on new walk-to-work, IRM and subsea projects starting Q2 2024. The parties have chosen not to disclose the sales amount.

TechnipFMC, DOF-owned Vessel Catches Fire in Brazil

Skandi Buzios, a pipelay support vessel owned by TechnipFMC and DOF, caught fire Friday morning in a Brazilian port.The Brazilian media and some social media accounts on Friday showed images and videos of the burning vessel with thick smoke billowing above it and firefighters trying to quell the fire.The incident happened at Porto do Açu, in São João da Barra, in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro, and no injuries have been reported.Offshore Engineer has reached out to TechnipFMC seeking more info. Helix, Volstad Agree Long Term Charters for Construction Support Vessel Duo

Helix Robotics Solutions Limited, the U.K. Robotics division of Helix Energy Solutions Group, and the Norwegian shipowner Volstad Maritime have agreed on five-year charter extensions for both the Grand Canyon II and Grand Canyon III construction support vessels to continue working on projects across multiple energy sectors.The two vessels have been under long-term charter with Helix since 2015 and 2016, respectively. The extended charter for the Grand Canyon II runs from January 2023 through the end of 2027, while the extended charter for the Grand Canyon III runs from May 2023 through May 2028, with a further option to extend. Thai-based offshore services company Mermaid Subsea Services has agreed to buy a 50% ownership share in the Millennium 3 offshore construction vessel from PT David Marine for $16 million.The Millennium 3 is a DP2 construction support vessel built in 2011 in Indonesia by Nantong Dongjiang Shipyard Co. Danish offshore vessel operator Maersk Supply Service has secured a one-year contract extension for one of its subsea support vessels in Angola.In a social media post on Monday, Maersk Supply Service said it would provide the full scope IRM services for an undisclosed oil major in Angola, supported by one of the company's I-class subsea support vessels.In addition, the contract covers an integrated package of FSV, 2 WROV + Positioning Services as well as project management and engineering services.Osvaldo Sechie, Managing Director, Angola said the contract win gave the company an extended footprint in Angola, a longer-term contract with a valued customer, and ability to continue with the company's local content development plan through its  Cadets program.
