ICHCA, IAPH Joins for World Ports Sustainability Program

ICHCA International, the global NGO and membership association for cargo handling operations, technical, HSSE and risk professionals has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) to pursue cooperative projects of mutual interest. This includes the sharing of the research and findings of ICHCA’s Technical Panel (ITP) with the IAPH membership through its own working groups. The ICHCA Technical Panel has recently launched four new working groups on Dangerous Goods, Digital & Innovation, Straddle Carrier Safety and Dry Bulk Cargoes. SENER Celebrates 60 Years

The SENER engineering and technology group will celebrate its sixtieth anniversary in 2016. It has grown into a multidisciplinary international group which offers solutions in Aeronautics, Engineering and Construction, and Energy and Environment. SENER was founded on the basis of three important premises: to create high-quality projects, to anticipate the industry’s problems with innovative solutions, and to be independent and flexible in order to adapt to the market’s demands.

SENER Group Reports Continued Growth

Turnover increased by 8 percent to reach 1.315 billion Euros, with net profit rising by 66 percent to reach 57.8 million Euros. The engineering and technology group SENER ended 2014 with a turnover of 1,315.7 billion Euros; an increase of 8.02 percent over the previous year. The group’s operating result came to 73.3 million Euros, representing an increase of 54.7 percent compared to 2013, and the holding company’s profit reached 57.8 million Euros (an increase of 66.1 percent). The number of people working at SENER has remained almost constant at 5,541 (a decrease of 0.52 percent).

SENER Inaugurates Manchester Office

The engineering and technology group SENER has celebrated the inauguration of its facilities in Manchester, the group’s base for engineering and construction in the United Kingdom, which have been fully operational since 2014. The inauguration event was held May 8 and was attended by local authorities, including City Mayor Ian Stewart and representatives from key clients such as BAE Systems and Babcock. The guests were received on behalf of SENER by its Marine General Manager, Rafael de Góngora, and the Manager of its Marine office in Manchester, Fernando Sánchez.

LR Improves Certificates with ITP Platform

Lloyd’s Register has selected the ITP platform from communications software specialist Aia Software to create and manage its certificate creation process. Selecting ITP is part of a larger project to improve the creation of their complex and technical documentation, LR explained. It will enable the organization to improve both productivity and quality control, ultimately improving their services to clients. SENER Opens UK Office

SENER opened an Engineering and Construction division in Manchester to reinforce its presence in the United Kingdom. The group already has work sites set up in the UK and it maintains a close 25-year relationship with Rolls Royce through ITP, a leader in the global market for industrial and aeronautical engines in which SENER (53.125%) and Rolls Royce (46.875%) are the two shareholders. The new office will lend the support needed for ongoing projects such as the construction of two Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers for the Royal Navy.

SENER Operating Revenue up 7.6% in 2013

The SENER Engineering and Technology Group closed the 2013 financial year with an operating revenue of €1.218 billion, representing a growth of 7.6% on the previous year. The number of people working at SENER reached 5,570, an increase of 3.8%, and R&D investment was €71.7 million, representing 5.8% of the group's revenue. These figures position SENER as Spain's leading multidisciplinary engineering group in terms of R&D and the development of technologically-differentiated international projects.

SENER's Chairman Receives 2 New Recognitions

The Chairman of the engineering and technology group SENER, Jorge Sendagorta, has received the Bizkaia Sarean award in recognition of his career achievements. This is one of the Bizkaia Sarean awards, given by the Association for Promotion of Biscay Business Network, BizkaiRed, which highlight the work of executives, companies and institutions in the Biscay province. The fourth edition of these awards also recognized the Director General of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, the University of Deusto, the Bilbao Chamber of Commerce, the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, the LandArt Bilbao Foundation and the Fábrica de Magos school of magic. The award ceremony took place on Thursday, June 19 at the Bilbao Iberdrola Tower, a symbol of Biscay society's economic and business progress.

SENER Appoints Marine Commercial Director for Mexico

Héctor Martínez has been appointed Commercial Director of SENER’s Marine Strategic Business Unit in Mexico in addition to his responsibility as Commercial Director of the Aerospace Strategic Business Unit in the same division. EA and TE SubCom to Build Trans-Atlantic Cable System

Emerald Atlantis Limited (EA) and TE SubCom,  a TE Connectivity Ltd. company, have announced the finalization of an Instruction to Proceed (ITP) to build the Emerald Express Trans-Atlantic Cable System. The first phase will provide both low-latency and ultra-high bandwidth capacity between the US, Canada, UK and Iceland, requiring 5,200km of advanced submarine fibre optic cable. To achieve the desired ultra-high capacity rates, Emerald Express has been designed to support 100x100Gbs on each of its six fibre pairs. The trans-Atlantic marine cable route survey between UK and Canada commences in early August and the Emerald Express system will enter service in late 2012.

Rolls-Royce Sells Tugs to Esnaad

Rolls-Royce group has sold two UT780 tugboats to the UAE’s Esnaad, a unit of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. The boats, which will be able to operate in warm seas, are being built in Indonesia and will be ready in Q1 2008. operation in warm seas, the company said. In addition 500 tons of cargo can be carried on deck, while a six tank, bulk system has also been installed. Two Bergen C-series engines turning twin CP propellers will provide a bollard pull of around 60 tons. The ships are reportedly sold as complete systems and fitted with a range of Rolls-Royce manufactured equipment which can include diesel engines, rudders, propellers, thrusters and powerful deck winches.
