A Sandy Hook Pilots Association captain died from injuries suffered during a boarding accident on Wednesday.Capt. Timothy Murray reportedly fell from a pilot ladder while boarding a tanker inbound to the Port of New York & New Jersey at approximately 10:30 p.m., the pilots association said in a statement. Aluminum boat manufacturer Moose Boats announced the delivery of two patrol boats. The builder delivered a M2-38’ Patrol Catamaran to the United States Park Police in Fort Tilden, New York, as well as a M2-38’ Wide Cabin Patrol Catamaran to the New Jersey State Police in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. The U.S. Park Police’ all aluminum catamaran is powered by twin 425hp Cummins turbo diesel engines with TwinDisc transmissions coupled to Hamilton HJ292 water-jets. Maneuvering is achieved by dual complete Hamilton BlueArrow control stations at both the central cabin helm station and cockpit.

An Air Station Kodiak Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew, forward deployed to the Bering Sea region, medevaced an ill crewman from the bulk carrier Jamaica Bay 92 miles west of Dutch Harbor, Tuesday. The Dolphin crew hoisted the 37-year-old Chinese mariner, who was reportedly suffering from severe abdominal distress, and transported him safely to awaiting emergency medical personnel in Dutch Harbor for treatment. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard 17th District command center in Juneau received a medevac request from the crew of the vessel early Tuesday morning. The Jamaica Bay, more than 356 miles west of Dutch Harbor at the time of the request, was outside the range of the Dolphin. The watchstanders directed the crew of the bulk carrier to alter course toward Dutch Harbor.

Units of the U.S. Navy Northern Command continues to work closely with civil authorites in Sandy clear up operations. Continue to clear debris from NJ Barrier Islands. Continue to provide afloat staging base and support to USCG District 1. Continue to rebuild Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook. Continue dewatering [or pumping out] of Rockaway Beach, NY, and Brooklyn public housing. Continued support by NMCB-11 and CRS-4 at Hoboken Ferry Terminal Port Authority. NECC’s Fleet Survey Team will go ashore in order to complete tasking in Jamaica Bay.

Moose Boats, an aluminum boat manufacturer, delivers a M1-44’ catamaran to the US Park Police in New York Harbor. The M1-44’ all aluminum catamaran is powered by twin 600hp Cummins diesel engines coupled to twin Hamilton 322 water-jets with Hamilton Blue Arrow Controls and includes a second full upper station. The boat features an extra wide fully enclosed cabin complete with a mini-galley, large work station, dinette and three shock mitigating seats. The cuddy cabin offers a full size berth and head compartment.

Moose Boats, an aluminum boat manufacturer, has been awarded a contract from US Department of the Interior – US Park Police, for a M1-44 Patrol Boat. This is a 44-ft all aluminum catamaran powered by twin 600hp Cummins diesel engines coupled with twin Hamilton 322 water-jets. This vessel is designed to attain a top speed of 40 knots, cruise at approximately 30 knots and will be used for security patrol of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The Marine Patrol Unit acquired a 32-ft aluminum Cat from Moose Boats in the spring of 2003 and it has been in service in Jamaica Bay ever since.

The U.S. Coast Guard and the National Park Service issued a Notice stating that the Coast Guard plans to close Station (Small) Rockaway on Jamaica Bay, Long Island, New York and consolidate operations at its Staten Island facility. The Rockaway station would be incorporated into the Gateway National Recreation Area. A public meeting will be held in Rockaway on May 27, 2003 to present information on the proposal.
