FERC Approves Excelerate’s Offshore GasPort

On July 24, 2015, the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued its order granting authorization to Excelerate Energy, in cooperation with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA), to site, construct and operate the proposed Aguirre Offshore GasPort Project located offshore Puerto Rico. The order confirms the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) that resulted in a finding of no significant environmental impact. As part of the order, the project will comply with all the environmental conditions outlined by FERC.

Aguirre Offshore GasPort Project Receives EIS from FERC

Excelerate Energy ("Excelerate"), in cooperation with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority ("PREPA"), has received the final Environmental Impact Statement ("EIS") from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission ("FERC") for its Aguirre Offshore GasPort Project ("Project") located offshore Puerto Rico. The EIS assesses the environmental impacts of the liquefied natural gas ("LNG") terminal proposed by Excelerate and determines if the Project is suitable for construction and operation. The FERC staff concludes in its statement that the construction and operation of the Project would result in limited adverse environmental impacts that would mostly occur during construction.

Excelerate Energy’s Aguirre Offshore GasPort Project Receives Notice of Schedule from FERC and Letter of Recommendation from the U.S. On May 2, 2014, Excelerate Energy received the Notice of Schedule for Environmental Review from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for its Aguirre Offshore GasPort Project (AOGP) located offshore Puerto Rico.
