Moose Boats Delivers 2 Patrol Boats

Aluminum boat manufacturer Moose Boats announced the delivery of two patrol boats. The builder delivered a M2-38’ Patrol Catamaran to the United States Park Police in Fort Tilden, New York, as well as a M2-38’ Wide Cabin Patrol Catamaran to the New Jersey State Police in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. The U.S. Park Police’ all aluminum catamaran is powered by twin 425hp Cummins turbo diesel engines with TwinDisc transmissions coupled to Hamilton HJ292 water-jets. Maneuvering is achieved by dual complete Hamilton BlueArrow control stations at both the central cabin helm station and cockpit.

Habtoor Leighton Awarded Doha Pipeline Project

for KAHRAMAA – Qatar’s General Electricity and Water Corporation. HLG, operating as Leighton Contracting (Qatar) WLL, is responsible for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 120km of 1600mm diameter ductile iron pipes and fittings. Works also include trench excavation, backfilling and construction of all valve chambers. This contract brings the total value of new project awards to HLG during 2014 to AED7.4 billion (US$2 billion) – close to doubling HLG’s December 2013 work in hand to AED16.5 billion (US$4.48 billion). The pipelines project is the fifth project awarded to HLG by KAHRAMAA. KAHRAMAA was for the construction of the Duhail and Umm Qarn Reservoirs in 2009.

International Shipping Week Launched in London

London’s crucial central role in the global shipping industry was highlighted when members of the international maritime community and representatives of the U.K. Government gathered to officially launch the first ever London International Shipping Week (LISW) last night. Norman Baker MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport, spoke of the important role maritime business plays in both the U.K. and global economy as he addressed more than 100 guests gathered at the London offices of Norton Rose Fulbright, overlooking the Thames at sunset.

MLL Aligns Management Structure

Maersk Line, Limited (MLL) has announced a realignment of its Senior Management Team structure to serve clients and grow its position in target markets. William J. (Bill) Kenwell will assume the title of Senior Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer with responsibility for leading commercial activities and relationships with key government agencies. Reporting to Kenwell will be MLL’s U.S.-flag Liner and Integrated Defense Logistics business units as well as all Marketing and Proposal activities. Kenwell will report to MLL’s President and Chief Executive Officer, John Reinhart. All of MLL’s maritime-related business units will transfer reporting to Steve Carmel, Senior Vice President, Maritime Services.

NWC Annual Meeting Set for Portland

The National Waterways Conference, Inc. will hold its 2006 Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon on September 6-8. The NWC has not convened its Annual Meeting on the west coast since the organization was founded in 1960. This year’s Annual Meeting, with the theme, Prepare Today for the Needs of Tomorrow, is bringing together key government and industry decision makers from throughout the nation to address current and emerging issues that potentially affect the future viability of the nation’s ports and waterways.
