The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) has opted to extend its Sentinel-Class Fast Response Cutters (FRC) build program, exercising a contract option with Bollinger Shipyards for two additional vessels.The move brings the total number of FRCs awarded to Bollinger up to 67 vessels since the program’s inception. To date, the U.S. Coast Guard has commissioned 55 FRCs into operational service.“We’re incredibly proud of our long history supporting the U.S. Coast Guard that now stretches four decades,” said Bollinger Shipyards President and CEO Ben Bordelon.

The U.S. Navy has awarded Bollinger Shipyards a contract to build four additional Mine Countermeasures Unmanned Surface Vessels (MCM USV). On Monday, the new ocean transport barge Holland arrived at Electric Boat’s Groton Shipyard. The barge was purpose-built to support delivery of Columbia class ballistic missile submarines. General Dynamics Electric Boat is the prime contractor on construction of the Columbia class.The Holland was designed by Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. (BHGI) and constructed by Bollinger Shipyards, LLC, of Lockport, La. The namesake of the new barge is John Holland, the Irish-born immigrant who designed the first submarine purchased by the U.S. Navy.

Bollinger Shipyards on Saturday christened the Holland, an ocean transport barge for General Dynamics Electric Boat. The Holland will support the construction and maintenance of the United States Navy’s Columbia Class ballistic missile submarines and Virginia Class fast attack submarines. Bollinger Quick Repair, LLC, a Bollinger Shipyards LLC company, has taken delivery of a new 3,400 ton dry-dock.Built at Bollinger Shipyard’s Amelia, La. facility, the dock is now in service and measures 219’7” X 84’, with a wing wall depth of 15’, and is rated for 3,400 tons, said Bollinger President & CEO, Ben Bordelon.The dry-dock is named in honor of long-time Bollinger employee Eddie Barnes, Jr., who joined Bollinger Shipyards on June 29, 1972 and during his tenure with the company has held various key production positions such as Dockmaster, Foreman and Superintendent.

After reopening its idle barge manufacturing operations earlier this year, Arcosa Marine’s Madisonville, LA, facility launched its first barge on July 25 to a welcoming crowd from the banks of the Tchefuncte River.The tank barge, E2MS 314, constructed for the family owned and operated E Squared Marine Service, LLC (E Squared), was christened by Kevin Morley of Frost Bank, after which Arcosa Inc. president, Thomas Faherty, addressed the crowd. “We are honored by E Squared’s continued trust in Arcosa Marine to deliver the highest quality inland barges to their fleet,” said Faherty.

Gulf Island Shipyards, a division of Gulf Island Fabrication, Inc. has launched the newly built M/V HOS Warhorse on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at their Jennings, La. facility. The HOS Warhorse, the first of a two vessel contract for Hornbeck Offshore Services, will be relocated to Gulf Island Shipyard’s Houma location for final outfitting, testing, commissioning and delivery to Hornbeck during the first quarter of 2018. NuBlu Energy has begun the construction of a natural gas liquefaction plant in Port Allen, LA, strategically located along the Mississippi River. NuBlu’s facility will support the region’s high-horsepower fueling applications such as rail, marine, long haul transportation, power generation, gas interruption, asphalt and other energy markets. The facility is slated to be operational and producing high-quality liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the second quarter of 2017. Total planned capacity of the facility is 90,000 gallons per day with an initial start-up capacity of 30,000 GPD. “This project represents the inauguration of a new direction for the LNG energy market.

InterMoor, an Acteon company, has won a contract for design, fabrication and installation of 12 suction pile anchors, preset installation of 12 chain/polyester/chain mooring lines and hook-up of the LLOG Delta House production semi-submersible (the Floating Production System “FPS”). The work will be conducted in the Mississippi Canyon 254 block of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The project will involve suction pile design, fabrication and installation, followed by preset mooring installation and pre-set mooring hook-up of the FPS. The 12 piles will be 85 ft. long and 16 ft.

This year the Morgan City, La., company celebrates its 65th anniversary, and while much has changed since the company’s inception in 1948, many of the company’s core values stand strong, namely its adherence to building quality products. Conrad specializes in the construction, conversion and repair of a wide variety of marine vessels for commercial and governmental customers.

HB Rentals wins an A60-ABS-approved, 10-building package to accommodate 58 personnel on a fixed platform off the coast of Trinidad. In addition to the 58 beds, HB Rentals also supplied the galley, diner, laundry facilities and medic’s room as well as the generators; electrical distribution system; water maker and storage system; sewage treatment equipment; stairs; and platforms. The units, outfitted at HB Rentals’ Broussard, La., facility, were shipped via ocean freight to HB Rentals’ Trinidad facility. “Through the combined efforts of both the Trinidad and US team members, this was a successful design, installation and commissioning package,” said Jude Primeaux, Director – Offshore Operations.

InterMoor, an Acteon company, completes installation of the drilling and production conductors for the Papa Terra offshoref Brazil. Petrobras serves as the operator of the Papa Terra concession with a 62.5 percent interest; Chevron holds the remaining 37.5 percent interest. InterMoor was responsible for the design, procurement, fabrication and installation of 15 conductors for the project. Fabricated at InterMoor’s 24-acre, Morgan City, La., facility, the conductors are 36 inches (91 centimeters) in diameter and 187 feet (57 meters) long.

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. reported second quarter 2011 sales of $1.56 billion, down 2.9 percent from the same period last year, and operating margin of 5.8 percent, up from negative 1.2 percent last year. Second quarter diluted earnings per share was $0.80, up from a loss of $0.23 in 2010. Cash provided by operating activities in the second quarter of 2011 was $186 million, up $91 million, or 96 percent, over the same period last year. Mojix Inc. announced Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO), C Logistics Division, is deploying the Mojix STAR system in a large scale RFID initiative to bring a new level of visibility, precision and operational efficiency to the oil and gas industry at their Port Fourchon, La. facility, a large scale shorebase operation which services the majority of offshore logistics for offshore operations in the Gulf of Mexico. Following a successful pilot of the Mojix system, the deployment to fully equip Port Fourchon’s C-Port and C-Port 2, an 18-slip operation, is underway, and will light up the entire port providing RTLS visibility utilizing passive RFID.

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. announced that it was awarded a contract valued at over $142,000,000 to build an additional three Sentinel Class, 154-ft patrol boats, for the U. S. Coast Guard. The initial contract for the design and construction of the lead ship in the class was awarded to Bollinger in September 2008. Under the current contract options, the Coast Guard can buy up to thirty-four patrol boats with Bollinger for a total value of over $1.6b. The Sentinel Class cutters will replace the 110-ft Island Class that Bollinger built in the 1980’s.
