Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has completed the biofuel bunkering operation for its capesize bulk carrier Lambert Maru in Singapore, with the vessel now underway on its first biofuel-powered voyage carrying cargo for Anglo American.The 292-meter-long Lambert Maru, which has a deadweight tonnage of 180,432 MT, loaded the biofuel on September 14.MOL said the voyage forms part of its ‘Blue Action Net-Zero Alliance’ carbon inset program framework, which aims to achieve net-zero emissions in maritime transportation.

Norwegian subsea services DOF Subsea has won a contract extension for its Skandi Africa subsea construction vessel.The new commitment will now run until February 2024 and will start in direct continuation with the current contract. The search for the Argentinian submarine was like hunting for the proverbial needle in a hay stack, except that it was a piece of straw. Elaine Maslin reports. At 7.19am, local time, on November 15, 2017, the last message was received from the San Juan submarine. She belonged to the Argentinian navy and was on a routine mission from Ushuaia in the Patagonia region to Mar del Plata in Buenos Aires province when she lost contact with the military. The U.S. Navy officially welcomed its newest littoral combat ship into its fleet during a December 16 commissioning ceremony in Buffalo, N.Y. Constructed at Marinette Marine Corporation, Marinette, Wisc., USS Little Rock (LCS 9) is the Navy’s fifth freedom-variant LCS. The fast, shallow draft vessel has a modular design capable of implementing a variety of mission packages as an asset to the fleet in both the shallow coastal regions as well trans-Atlantic service. The ship was commissioned next to the first USS Little Rock, a Galveston-class guided missile cruiser (CLG 4).

The U.S. Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (SLSDC) and the Canadian St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation have jointly marked the opening of the Seaway’s 59th navigation season. The official opening ceremony of the binational waterway took place on March 20 at the St. Lambert Lock in Montreal with Canadian Transport Minister Marc Garneau attending as honored guest and SLSMC President and CEO Terence Bowles and SLSDC Deputy Administrator Craig H.
