Edward Heerema is founder and president of Allseas, which brought the world’s largest construction vessel, Pioneering Spirit, to the market. The company, which also brought innovation to the pipelay sector, has added its latest trick to Pioneering Spirit – its jacket lift system. But Allseas is also targeting deepsea mining and has its sights on the offshore wind market. Barcelona Yacht Repairer Adds New Pearlson Shiplift

Yacht service, refit, repair and maintenance yard Marina Barcelona 92 (MB’92) has awarded a contract to Pearlson Shiplift Corporation (PSC) for the design and supply of a new ship lift and transfer system as part of an expansion project underway at its Barcelona shipyard. Doedijns Receives Order for Sub-Assembly for RIS

Doedijns from the Netherlands has been awarded for the delivery of a major part of the Rig-less Intervention System for the BC-10 FPSO production facility by SBM Offshore Malaysia. Shell’s BC-10 Development in the Campos Basin offshore Brazil implemented a new method of subsea-separation and boosting which uses vertical caisson separators with Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP´s). In case of failure of these pumps, the existing solution is to call in a conventional drilling rig to perform the intervention operation. The Rig-less Intervention system (RIS) facilitates replacement of worn or failed caisson based artificial lift systems deployed in the BC-10 field. The entire ESP/Caisson assembly shall be recovered to the surface and landed out in an intervention facility.

Fossil Fuel Recovery to Benefit from New Technology

New York - Considerable investment is being ploughed into oil and gas enhanced production services in the hope of increasing production efficiency in a market in which global hydrocarbon consumption is only expected to increase, according to market intelligence experts GBI Research. The new report shows that the application of enhanced production techniques, such as the artificial lift technique in upstream production processes, and sand control services, will considerably improve the percentage recovery of oil and gas from onshore and offshore reservoirs. Artificial lift services picked up the pace in 2011 as a result of increasing oil and gas demand, which brought about the need to enhance production above levels achieved from naturally flowing reservoirs.
