Lighting solutions specialist Glamox has launched new wildlife and turtle-friendly versions of some of its most popular LED marine luminaires.The new amber-coloured lights, for use on the exterior of vessels and onshore coastal facilities, are designed to limit the impact of lighting on nesting turtles and their hatchlings.Growing environmental awareness and guidance from authorities have seen the emergence of a market for amber turtle-friendly lighting, particularly in Asia and Australasia.

New Series of Portable Solar Power Battery Packs

Larson Electronics, a manufacturer and supplier of industrial grade lighting solutions, said it has released a new series of portable battery packs powered with lithium-ion batteries that offer multiple charging capabilities. These battery packs are powered by lithium ion batteries with a Samsung ICR18650-3.7V-2600mAh cell. These units are designed for off-grid use in remote locations with solar panel compatibility (Escape 30, Boulder 15, Nomad 27, and Nomad 13). These solar units are available in a 300 watt rated output, a 2,000 watt rated output, and a 500 watt rated output.

RSL Fiber Systems to Provide Remote Source Lighting for Italian Navy Warships

EAST HARTFORD, CT (April 11, 2011) – RSL Fiber Systems, LLC has added yet another major distinction to its rapidly-increasing portfolio of achievements, securing its first international defense contract, with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, to supply fiber optic remote source lighting systems for the Italian Navy’s new FREMM class frigates, currently under construction. The contract, for the first six of an anticipated 10 FREMM (Fregata Europea Multi-Missione) anti-submarine warfare and general purpose frigates, is RSL’s first non-U.S. Navy agreement. Financial terms were not disclosed.
