51/60DF Engines Pass FATs

MAN Diesel’s type 51/60DF four-stroke, medium speed dual-fuel gas engine has passed the final landmark on its way to its first commercial applications in the marine sector. Having gained type approval in autumn 2007 on the seven cylinder prototype engine in the presence of eight major classification societies, the first production versions of the 51/60DF recently completed their factory acceptance tests (FAT) at MAN Diesel’s Augsburg works. The FATs were witnessed by representatives from shipyard STX of Korea, ship owner EN Elcano of Spain and classification society Bureau Veritas.

Under One Roof on the Internet

With their newly developed www.manbw.com Internet homepage, the MAN B&W Diesel Group went online precisely with the start of the SMM trade fair “Shipbuilding, Machinery & Marine Technology” held in Hamburg from September 24 to 28, 2002. “With our new web appearance, we are systematically using the Internet possibilities in order to provide our customers with suitable information for any questions they may have. At the same time, we provided an up-to-date and joint communication platform for our customers and the interested public, says Fritz Pape, Executive Vice President of MAN B&W Diesel. The formerly national-oriented Internet pages were replaced by a comprehensive, modern and international web presentation.
