Projemar Contracts with Sener

The reference ship and offshore design consultancy in Brazil, Projemar, has entered a license contract with Sener for the use of FORAN. After the implementation of FORAN in its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, Projemar is conducting an on the job learning process that includes the actual detail design a mineral carrier for a Brazilian shipyard, covering the complete structure and outfitting 3D model and the manufacturing outputs. Projemar joins the Brazilian FORAN users base that includes, among others, the Brazilian Navy Shipyard (AMRJ) and Ship Design Center (CPN) in Rio de Janeiro, the STX shipyard in Niteroi, the Itajaí shipyard and the School of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers in the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).

Daewoo Wins Ship Orders

Beleagured Daewoo Heavy Industries won $230 million in ship orders from Companies in Hong Kong and Europe. Daewoo reported earned an order to build a bulk carrier from Hong Kong's Tai Chong Cheang Co. Ltd. and two bulk carriers from Oak Maritime Inc. Norway's Bergesen d.y. Group ASA is reported to have given Daewoo an order for one mineral carrier and Belgium's Bocimar N.V. an order for two bulk carriers. The orders tallied at $120 million. Daewoo said it planned to deliver the ships by June 2002.
