Rolls-Royce has successfully completed seatrials of its first S4 series of waterjets, designed to give higher efficiency at lower speeds. The trials aboard the recently upgraded Tangalooma Jet, a 350 passenger-carrying high-speed catamaran, indicated a 3% increase in thrust when compared to the previously installed waterjets. The ferry takes passengers to and from the Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Resort on Moreton Island, about 75 miles off the coast of Brisbane, Australia. According to a report from the Brisbane Times, a steering fault caused a container ship to run aground in Moreton Bay off Brisbane. The 217-metre MSC Basel was leaving the Port of Brisbane and ran aground on the Yule Bank, five kilometres north of Moreton Island, at about 9.30 a.m., Nov. 1. Two tug boats were being sent to help remove the Singapore-bound vessel, but it refloated with the rising tide about midday. (Source: Brisbane Times)

Incat Designs - Sydney announced the launches of two new ferries. The 43m Seastreak Highlands was launched at Gladding Hearn's Massachusetts (USA) yard in late February. This was followed by the launch of 58m RoPax Ferry MiCAT (pictured) by Cairns boatbuilder NQEA Australia one week later. Seastreak Highlands is the 165th Incat Designs - Sydney vessel to be constructed, and will join sister ships Seastreak New Jersey, Seastreak Wall Street and Seastreak New York on the run from Downtown New York to Atlantic Highlands.
