Dutch marine services firm Boskalis has, through its subsidiary SMIT Salvage, reached an agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to remove the oil from the decaying FSO Safer moored off Yemen’s Red Sea coast in a push to avoid environmental disaster. The DOF Group has been awarded two contracts for the provision of the multipurpose support vessel (MSV) Skandi Skansen and the platform supply vessel (PSV) Skandi Caledonia in the Mediterranean. The contracts will commence in 4th quarter and secure utilisation of 90 days plus options for the Skandi Skansen and 300 days plus options for the Skandi Caledonia. The Skandi Skansen is a new generation high powered anchor handling vessel designed for field installation operations across a wide range of water depths and environmental conditions. Skandi Skansen is also classified as a CSV as the vessel is well equipped to carry out construction support activities. Skandi Calendonia is a PSV characterized by large deck space and broad cargo handling capability.

The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI) accepted delivery of a secondhand Multipurpose Support Vessel (MPSV) M.V. “SCI Sabarmati” today i.e. 18th November, 2016 at Singapore. This vessel is 2013 built, at Colombo Dockyard Ltd., and had lately carried out necessary modification to serve as MPSV. The vessel is SPS compliant and can be dynamically positioned (DP-2), having a gross tonnage of 3,306 Metric Tonnes and deadweight of 3,352.31 Metric tonnes. The vessel is dual classed with LR and IRS and has been built to comply with latest international regulations. Eastern Shipbuilding Group (ESG), a shipbuilder based in Panama City, Fla., is due to launch the HARVEY SUB-SEA in November 6, marking the launch of the shipyard’s first vessel designed with the FORAN CAD/CAM System developed by the engineering and technology group SENER. The newly built multipurpose support vessel (MPSV) is the first of a series of two with a length of 103.7 meters, beam of 22.3 meters and depth of 8.92 meters. It is regulated by ABS/USCG/SOLAS DP2 DE Z-Drive MPSV and will operate in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico for HARVEY Gulf International Marine.

Marine engineering teams from diesel power specialist Royston Limited have carried out the overhaul of turbochargers on two offshore supply ships operated by Tidewater Marine in the oilfields off the coast of South West Africa. Royston said its engineers completed the full overhaul of Napier NA297 turbochargers on the Melton Tide firefighting and offshore support vessel and the success of this work led to more recent service work being undertaken on the Netherland Tide, multipurpose support vessel.

Tug Fairmount Glacier has towed pipelay-vessel Castoro Sei to Rotterdam, the Netherlands, from where the vessel will start her seasonal activities on the North Sea. The Fairmount Glacier hooked-up with Castoro Sei in Genoa, Italy. The Castoro Sei is a 28,000 ton DWT 152 meters long semi-submersible pipelay-vessel operated by Italian Saipem. For her towage from Genoa towards Rotterdam the Fairmount Glacier was mobilized from Las Palmas. The convoy reached Gibraltar within six days.

Fairmount Marine said it had delivered rig ENSCO 5004 in Malta at the end of a voyage that began offshore Rio de Janeiro. Rig ENSCO 5004 is a 1982 built 94.7 meters long and 70.4 meters wide semi-submersible drilling rig. The towage of rig ENSCO 5004 from Rio de Janeiro to Malta took about 5,782 nautical miles and during the voyage speeds well over seven knots were reached. Fairmount Fuji has performed several cargo runs between Siapem’s Boscongo yard in Pointe Noire and the offshore Congo moored drilling ship Siapem 1000. Fairmount Fuji also took care of the transport of Saipem crew. Drilling ship Saipem 1000, a fifth-generation drilling ship for ultra deepwater operations, was moored offshore Congo pending her next assignment. Fairmount Marine was contracted to assist in the crew change and in the transfer of cargo.

'Fairmount Expedition' delivers offshore support vessel (OSV) 'Harvey Rover' safely in the port of Paramaribo, Suriname after the OSV had engine problems in the South Atlantic. Harvey Rover encountered engine problems while en route from South Africa to Trinidad. Super-tug Fairmount Expedition was in Trinidad when her assistance was required by the owner of Harvey Rover, US-based Harvey Gulf International. When facing engine problems the 2010 build, 3.134 DWT, 75 meters long OSV was en route towards Trinidad and about 330 miles North-East of Brazilian port Ponta de Madeira.
