India's Essar Bulk Terminal Salaya Ltd (EBTSL) posted 160 percent growth in its cargo throughput for the Q1FY2020 which ended on June 30, 2019.As against 0.5 million tonnes (MT) in Q1FY19, EBTSL clocked a cargo throughput of 1.3 MT in Q1FY20, said a press release from the deepest draft terminal in Gujarat’s Saurashtra region.The performance marks not only a 160% growth in cargo handling over the corresponding quarter in the previous fiscal, but is also the best throughput achieved since the terminal’s commissioning in 2018.With the terminal integrated 1,200 MW power plant (Essar Power Gujarat) resuming operations, EBTSL is hopeful of a significant boost to its topline and cargo throughput in the subsequent quarters this year.

Australia’s Energy World Corp(EWC) said it has received a permit from the Philippines' department of energy (DoE) to construct an LNG hub at Pagbilao Grande island in Quezon province.The energy company, which produces and sells power and natural gas primarily in the Asia Pacific region, said in a stock exchange annoucement that DoE Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi on behalf of the department had issued Energy World Gas Operations Philippines, Inc. a permit to construct, own and operate an LNG import terminal and regasification facility on the Pagbilao Grande island.“The permit which was issued on 21 December 2018 forms an update to the original permit documentation and provides for a further construction period of 24 months from the permit issue date…

Terex Port Solutions (TPS) achieves another success in South America. The Argentinian power plant operator AES Argentina Generacion S.A. (AES) has ordered a Terex Gottwald Model 2 portal harbour crane in the G HSK 2224 variant from TPS. From the end of 2016, AES will use the cargo handling machine in its 1,540 MW power plant in San Nicolás de los Arroyos to unload coal imported from Colombia and South Africa. The G HSK 2224 crane will be the first Model 2 in the world designed as a portal harbour crane. the north west of the Atlantic estuary of the Rio Paraná. Sierra Leone is aiming to increase its power capacity tenfold by 2017, a plan the energy minister said should be driven by foreign investors despite the outbreak of Ebola and a history of bureaucratic difficulties. Sierra Leone has recorded strong economic growth rates in recent years as major mining projects came online, but the broader recovery from years of conflict during the 1990s has been slow and risks being derailed by an Ebola outbreak that has gripped the country. "We are open for business," Henry Macauley told a packed conference room in the London offices of Herbert Smith Freehills, a law firm advising the government. The plan aims to increase power capacity to 1,000 MW by 2017, from a current level of 100 MW.

International classification and verification company RINA Services has performed the design approval for the world's largest Compressed Natural Gas storage plant in Grati, Indonesia. The CNG will feed the local 300 MW power plant. The plant, operated by Indonesia’s PT PLN (Persero), burns up to 15 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas from the CNG storage, driving three gas turbines. Adding a CNG plant to the existing power station tackles the issue of peak load demand. The CNG storage takes in pipeline gas when the plant is not at full capacity.

Wärtsilä Corporation report January to September 2012 indicates growth in orders & net sales despite tough markets. Highlights of the review period Jan – Sept 2012. “Despite the continuing uncertainty in the global economy and the tough market conditions, both our order intake and net sales developed well. In the third quarter they were up by 14% and 28% respectively. Ship Power’s year-on-year performance is strong, and has been supported by both an active offshore sector and the Hamworthy acquisition. Among the highlights are a major engine and propulsion equipment order for six Brazilian drillships from Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd, and three platform supply vessel related orders from Statoil, as well as the first four ballast water management system orders.

Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS), a Norwegian oilfield service company, has awarded a five-year Service Agreement to Wärtsilä covering maintenance of the power plants onboard three offshore FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading) vessels. The agreement applies to the Petrojarl Foinaven, the Petrojarl Varg and the Petrojarl 1, which are operating in the North Sea and the north Atlantic ocean. With Wärtsilä maintaining the vessel's power plants at all times, Petroleum Geo-Services is able to concentrate on its core business of offshore capabilities in floating production and storage facilities. The ongoing power plant servicing provides the vessels with optimized availability together with cost savings, risk mitigation and financial predictability.

Izar Fene Shipyard, in collaboration with Itsazi Aquaculturehas, has developed an Offshore unit for the breeding, fattening and transport of the bluefin tuna (Thunnus Thynuus). Sailing at eight knots, the unit is able to transport (e.g.) living tunas from the Mediterranean to Japan. The proposed Tuna Offshore Unit combines a unique fish farming facility with a modern marine design to produce an offshore unit capable of purchasing young Tuna Fish in the selling centers, fattening of 1,200 tons of tuna fish in nine months in hot water areas improving the efficiency of the growing process. Upon completion, the fish are then presented to the fish markets at best prices. Other aquatic species such as salmon, bass, cod, se bream, hake, etc, could also be produced. The 603 x 184 ft.

Sections of Lagos will receive an unprecedented 22 hours of electricity daily starting next month due to a project by U.S. energy group AES Corp, the head of Nigeria's state power company said. National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) managing director Joseph Makoju said in an interview the added power generated by AES Barge Nigeria Ltd, the Nigerian subsidiary of AES, will allow NEPA to supply power almost around-the-clock to Lagos' industrial area Ikeja beginning August 1. Ikeja is home to Lagos state government buildings and companies. In June, the AES power-generating barges positioned next to the country's biggest power plant at Egbin near Lagos began injecting electricity into the national grid.
