NAVSEA Garners Awards

Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) emerged as a major force in environmental stewardship judging by its impressive showing during a recent series of environmental awards. NAVSEA and its various activities were very well represented on April 30 and May 1 at a series of environmental awards presentation ceremonies on behalf of the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO), the Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) and the Department of Defense (OSD). One of NAVSEA's acquisition programs, the Lewis and Clark T-AKE ship program, captured a "grand slam" of sorts winning awards at all levels, two from the CNO, two from SECNAV and one from OSD. The Norfolk Naval Shipyard also won a SECNAV award. NAVSEA was the biggest winner in the CNO awards, capturing 15 of the 54 awards.
