Trelleborg has hailed the recent test of the Universal Transfer System (UTS) conducted with Connect LNG and Gas Natural Fenosa, as tangible evidence of the new applications that its suite of products for jettyless LNG transfer can unlock in this challenging field. The Duke University Center on Globalization, Governance and Competitiveness (CGGC) recently completed a study on ocean technologies, including remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), for a consortium led by Nova Scotia’s Department of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism (ERDT). EAST HARTFORD, CT (April 11, 2011) – RSL Fiber Systems, LLC has added yet another major distinction to its rapidly-increasing portfolio of achievements, securing its first international defense contract, with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, to supply fiber optic remote source lighting systems for the Italian Navy’s new FREMM class frigates, currently under construction. The contract, for the first six of an anticipated 10 FREMM (Fregata Europea Multi-Missione) anti-submarine warfare and general purpose frigates, is RSL’s first non-U.S. Navy agreement. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Imtech has received new orders for new and existing ships from the Royal Netherlands and Belgian navies worth over $37.6m. Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (Vlissingen, the Netherlands), builder of the new logistic support ship Karel Doorman of the Royal Netherlands Navy, granted Imtech the contract for the design, production, delivery and implementation of various technological solutions on board this Joint Support Ship (JSS). Imtech also obtained orders for a technological upgrade of the Royal Netherlands Navy's supply vessel 'Hr. Ms. Amsterdam' dating from 1995 and a technological upgrade of two M-class frigates owned by the Belgian Navy. The new logistic support ship Karel Doorman, also called a Joint Support Ship (JSS), will replace the supply ship Hr. Ms.

CGGVeritas (ISIN: 0000120164 - NYSE: CGV) announced today it will make a voluntary exchange tender offer for 100% of the shares of Wavefield Inseis ASA ("Wavefield") (OSE: WAVE). Wavefield is a Norwegian pure-play seismic company which operates a fleet of 8 vessels and develops geophysical equipment based on fiber optic technology. In the third quarter 2008, Wavefield revenue was $110m, and operating income was $37m. The transaction strengthens CGGVeritas' fleet capability with immediate access to five recently equipped high capacity 3D vessels. The additional complement of three mid 3D and 2D Wavefield vessels increases overall fleet management flexibility.

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) announces 15 winners for its inaugural Spotlight on New Technology Program. These winners are recognized before, during and after the 35th annual OTC, 3-6 May, Reliant Center at Reliant Park in Houston. New Technology program, " said Rod Allan, OTC .04 Chairman. Applications for the Spotlight on New Technology were distributed at OTC .03 and were due 9 January 2004. Submissions had to meet four criteria: new and innovative, proven, broad interest, and significant impact. Winners will be recognized on site at this year's conference, scheduled May 3-6, on the exhibition floor and in the registration area. Spotlight on New Technology will continue as an annual recognition program coinciding with OTC.

Meyer Werft marked its re-entrance into the international ferry business with the delivery of the 41,000-gt RoRo-cruise ferry Pont-Aven for Brittany Ferries. In summer, Pont-Aven will provide daily service sailing at 27 knots between France and England and between England and Spain. The slim ship design includes many glass facades, as well as a swimming-pool, a fitness center, a shopping mall, restaurants and bars. Measuring 604.6 ft. (184 m) with a breadth of 101.4 ft. (30.9 m), the ferry features 652 passenger cabins to accommodate up to 2,600 passengers. The total track length of 3,500 m allows for 650 cars and 20 trucks. A total engine power of 68,500 hp enables a sailing speed exceeding 27 knots. Pont-Aven features two regular car decks and one hoistable deck in the upper car deck.

Systems Engineering Associates Corp. (SEA CORP) has won a $5.4m contract to help replace traditional periscopes on Navy submarines with electro-optical technology. The contract calls for SEA CORP to provide support for Photonics Imaging Systems programs at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport. The work will include program management, administrative support, engineering analysis, problem reporting and correction and integrated logistics support for systems using electro-optic technology that will replace the traditional optical periscopes.
