Parker Bestobell Marine, part of Parker Hannifin, has won a contract to supply cryogenic globe and check valves for two Caledonian MacBrayne Ferries (Calmac) being built at Ferguson Marine Engineering in Glasgow. The valves will be installed in the liquid natural gas (LNG) fuel gas systems of these vessels, which are the first U.K. built ships that will run on this environmentally friendly fuel. The new ferries will be ‘dual-fuel’ vessels so they can operate on both LNG and marine diesel.

Parker Kittiwake Procal, part of the Parker Hannifin Corporation and the supplier of continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS) for marine, power and offshore applications, has launched the new Procal 1200M data gathering system and control unit, specifically designed for maritime use by marine engineers. In addition to collecting and processing data from Parker Kittiwake Procal’s marine emissions analyzers, the Procal 12000M is capable of sending and receiving data from devices which monitor exhaust gas scrubbing systems.

According to the company, the rapid service unit can turn certain orders for critical fittings, hose-tube combinations and other custom pieces in the same day they are received. Parker Agrees to Acquire Sea Recovery from Danfoss A/S to Strengthen Its Position in Seawater Desalination for Marine Applications. Parker Hannifin Corporation (NYSE: PH), the global leader in motion and control technologies, today announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Sea Recovery, headquartered in Compton, CA from Danfoss A/S. Parker will assume ownership of the acquired business on November 1 st, 2012. Sea Recovery is a manufacturer of small to high capacity reverse osmosis systems for sea water desalination used primarily in commercial and pleasure marine applications. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Sea Recovery had sales of approximately $26 million for the last twelve months ending August 31 st and 70 employees…

The next MTS Houston Section luncheon will be held on August 25 2011 and will feature a presentation by Paul Hillegeist, Quest Offshore. Paul will provide an overview of a new study released in July by the National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) and the American Petroleum Institute (API). The study reveals the nationwide jobs and economic impact of the Gulf of Mexico offshore oil and gas industry and the effect of permitting on the job figures. According to the study conducted by Quest Offshore Inc., the Gulf offshore oil and gas industry supported more than 240,000 jobs across the country in 2010, while contributing more than $26 billion to the nation’s GDP. The Gulf offshore oil and gas industry supports tens of thousands of jobs outside the Gulf of Mexico.

Parker Hannifin Corporation(NYSE: PH), provider of motion and control technology, announced that it has acquired Aqua Pro, Inc. a manufacturer of reverse osmosis("RO") filtration systems for military, commercial and pleasure marine applications. Aqua Pro sales for fiscal 2008 were $33m. The acquisition is expected to be accretive to earnings within its first year following acquisition and its results will be reported as a component of Parker's Industrial North America segment. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. With manufacturing centers in Gardena and San Fernando, California, Aqua Pro does business as Village Marine Tec and Offshore Marine Laboratories. Sales and service locations are located in California, Florida, Hawaii, Virginia, and Washington.

For the last several years, the industry standard in bulk welding wire has been ESAB’s Marathon Pac. Now, ESAB introduces its second generation Marathon Pac. This new addition in filler metals has a unique octagon shape and offers the same advantages as ESAB’s previous design and includes several improvements. The Marathon Pac, manufactured from recyclable and environmentally friendly corrugated board coated with a thin moisture barrier, makes it easier to process for recycling.
