Vancouver to Install Shore Power for Containerships

Funding for the installation of shore power facilities for container vessels at two Port Metro Vancouver container terminals has been announced by Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay, Canada’s Minister of National Revenue and Member of Parliament for Delta-Richmond East, on behalf of Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, and Port Metro Vancouver President and Chief Executive Officer Robin Silvester. Also present for the announcement were partners BC Hydro, Global Container Terminals – operators of Deltaport terminals – and DP World Vancouver, operators of Vancouver’s Centerm.

Port Metro Vancouver Gets Asia-Pacific Gateway Funds

Canadian government partners with Port Metro Vancouver to improve movement of exports through the Asia-Pacific Gateway. Kerry-Lynne Findlay, Member of Parliament for Delta, Richmond East, on behalf of the Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway,  announced that the Government of Canada is funding an important new project in Delta, B.C., which builds on its commitment to open new markets for Canadian exports and increase transportation and trade capacity through the Asia-Pacific Gateway.

Dredging Contract Will Aid Fraser River BC Communities

Vital access channels in the Fraser River in Steveston & Ladner will be kept navigable by a US$ 10-million joint dredging contract. Economic activity in the area will be facilitated as a result of unprecedented collaborative work bringing together a $10 million joint commitment by Port Metro Vancouver, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, the B.C.
