Keppel, Golar to Build FLNG Facility

Keppel Corporation will partner liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipping company Golar LNG  to develop a floating LNG facility (FLNG) facility to be located on the Mauritania and Senegal maritime border.Keppel will partner Golar by subscribing for 30 per cent in Gimi MS Corporation, through Keppel's indirect wholly owned subsidiary First FLNG Holdings (FFH). India Boosts Shipping Industry

The Expansion, modernization and upgradation of shipping infrastructure in India is an on-going process to keep the ports abreast with new technologies and also to promote trade and cargo. The Government is committed to provide best possible infrastructure facilities to Indian shipping industry. Cochin Shipyard Limited, a Central Public Sector Enterprise under the administrative control of Ministry of Shipping has a shipbuilding capacity of 1,10,000 DWT and ship-repair capacity of 1,25,000 DWT to cater to the needs of the shipping industry. (i) Exempted Customs and Excise Duty leviable on bunker fuels used in Indian flag vessels for transportation of mix of EXIM, domestic and empty containers between two or more ports in India.

OW Bunker Installs Coriolis Flow Meters

Company continues roll-out of measurement technology across global fleet to provide customers with accuracy in supply. OW Bunker  hasannounced that it has installed a Coriolis Flow Meter on one of its refueling barges in Rotterdam. OW Bunker is the first independent physical fuel distributor to use the technology when supplying customers in the region, as it looks to ensure increased accuracy in measuring the quantity of product delivered. The new technology will be subjected to a rigorous trial period before being offered as a standard feature to customers refueling in Rotterdam.

Marine Fauna Research Project: Pluton Enlists BMT

Marine and coastal environment specialists, BMT Oceanica (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has commenced its latest project with Pluton Resources Ltd (Pluton) to increase knowledge of marine fauna around the Irvine and Cockatoo Islands off the Kimberley coast of Western Australia. The collection of marine fauna data will assist Pluton to meet their environmental approvals requirements for any expansion plans of mining operations on Cockatoo Island and the possible infrastructure development of iron ore mining on Irvine Island.
