Screw Propeller Makes Russian Shipbuilding History

The screw propeller, which is the largest in Russian shipbuilding history, of the diameter of 26.9 ft. was manufactured at the defense shipyard Zvezdochka in the city of Severodvinsk, reports BarentsObserver. This is a prefabricated mover from stainless steel of the weight of about 50 tons made for Hyundai Heavy Industrial. It is intended for an arctic tanker under construction to be operated by the Russian company Primorje Sea Shipping Company. Source: FIS

PRESCO to Build Tankers

Primorje Sea Shipping Company OJSC (PRESCO) signed to build five product carrying tankers with the STX Shipbuilding. The new tankers will be used for the transportation of crude oil, oil products and chemicals both in the Far Eastern region and between European ports. Under the contract these ice-class tankers of the deadweight of 52 thousand tons each are to replenish the PRESCO fleet by 2009.
