"American Energy" LNG Vessel Celebrated in Puerto Rico
Crowley, alongside Puerto Rico Governor Jenniffer González-Colón, celebrated the LNG carrier American Energy during an event Wednesday, June 18 at Crowley’s LNG Loading Terminal in Peñuelas. American Energy is the first U.S.-flagged liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier to deliver U.S.-sourced LNG to Puerto Rico.The Crowley-owned, 900-foot-long (274 meters) vessel began service in March 2025. At full capacity, American Energy is capable of transporting up to 34.4 million gallons (130,400 cubic meters) of LNG per voyage.

Port of San Juan: A Case Study in Port Security Innovation
Thirty-six hours after Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, the port of San Juan was back up and running, scanning the incoming relief cargo as it arrived. Now, nearly a year after the historic storm, San Juan remains one of the most secure and efficient ports in the world, scanning and adjudicating cargo shipments at an unprecedented speed, with wait times similar to pausing at a stop light. It was the first and only port in the Western Hemisphere to scan near-100 percent of incoming containerized cargo (bulk, un-containerized cargo is not scanned).
